I need some serious answers /g/ I have been suffering for a long time from severe panic attacks. Its really bad to the point that yesterday I called an ambulance because I was sure I was going to die. My question relates to what kind of career could I possibly have if I cant even function in my house. I want to work as a programmer but I cant see myself having one of these panic attacks that happen almost daily hit me like a train while Im at my workplace. Right now I have no income and I will not take money from the government. Is it possible for someone like me to find a job working from home as a programmer? I have a huge desire to code and I love learning but I dont have any kind of computer science degree and I dont know how Ill ever get one if I cant be safe. My life has been completely miserable since I have been young and I just want to find a purpose as right now I feel like I should just give up.

Yes, it is. Start learning and contribute to open source projects. That will be your resume. If you are good enough you don't need a degree.
By the way, keep in mind that is absolutely impossible to die because of a panic attack. Try to keep calm and think reasonably.

Try to get a psychiatrist they can prescribe you somethign to help you with your panic attacks or at least help you learn techniques to minimize them. Any insurance should pay for this. I was in the same situation regarding the panic attacks and it helped so much. Currently I only have 1-2 minor panic attacks a week compared to multiple major panic attacks a day. And I am currently gainfully employed as a networking security specialist.
I have an AA in computer science with a focus on Linux administration.
Dealing with similar stuff. I feel like if I could work from home I could make ends meet while trying to get a handle on life again but no one seems to hire for telecommunication unless you have +15 years of sys admin experience.

Iv had my go with everything. It got really bad when I stopped using opiates actually. but its been long awhile and its still getting worse. Id blow my brains out before I started doing dope again
Anon, as a fellow sufferer of panic disorder, don't let it ruin your life. Don't plan around it even if you want to. Talk to a professional, get help, seek treatment or meds and get on with life. I got over it and I was having up to 20 a day at one point. Seriously, talk to someone. You can get any job you want.

You need to see a counselor immediately. Nobody is going to want to deal with you or support you in your job if you aren't getting treatment and are considered stable.

Also, try keeping snacks with you. If you eat during an attack it can slow or stop it. Your brain will associate food with safety because if you were in real danger you wouldn't be eating. Works for some.
