Are there any cheap, decent HBA cards like the PERC H200 reflashed to IT mode? I'm looking for something with at least 8 ports (>= 2x SFF-8087/8088), preferably one internal and one external.

Also, any suggestions for cheap 4-bay hotswap 3.5" SATA HDD enclosures that use a SFF-8087/8088 port?

I want to expand my storage (and passthrough the HBA card to an ESXi VM), but I made some rather poor choices with the case for my server/NAS

I found a dell r310 pretty cheap.

I just want a standalone enclosure for the hard disks only, and preferably not a racked one

Semi related, I'm just looking for something with 8 ports that can handle sata port multiplexers. Something something poorfag.

I think I'll just go with the PERC H200 and reflash it. Maybe get a new case for my server, since a nice 4-bay SAS enclosure is more expensive than a whole new case, and which also means I don't need to pull a cable out from inside the case.

Total damage should be around $90 USD after I sell my old case, so not too bad I guess. Thanks guys.

Port multipliers do not work with SAS components.

How cheap?
The IBM M1015 is a popular one to reflash.

Good luck, you're better off getting a SFF-8087 breakout cable.

You might hit some snags on this. PCIe passthrough is designed for GPUs and network devices.
