nice. i almost picked up a 240g 850 evo along with my other upgrades that i made recently
I'm thinking about putting in another 8gb stick of ram, eventually, and maybe a bigger SSD.

What do you use the T110 for?
R8 or H8?
>>53712533
file server, web server, occasional game server, vpn, and teamspeak server.
>>53712555
And you're willing to loose everything by running a RAID 0?
>>53712389
I've also got Elementary running on an old Core2 Duo, but on an onboard video chipset and I've always found it to be quite slow
What's it like with a dedicated video card?
>>53712604
i have a NAS doing backups on all my machines
>>53712685
Ahhh. What are you using for backups, windows VSS?
>>53712665
no good drivers
>>53711885
/g/o ahead i'm ready
>>53712691
not even sure how i got it working, the nas logs into all the machines it can reach once every day, and copies all new and changed files to the drive.
>>53712709
>inb4 not speccy
>>53712712
Just check your backups to make sure they're intact then.
I use RAID 10 for all my servers, unless it's just cold storage.
anyone?
>>53711885
Is it just me or my Laptop PC is still better speced the most PC's in this thread in terms of Scalability.
noob here
looking to buy a new graphics card for around 200 ishh (maybe a little more if its worth it), is a GTX 960 a good card to buy?
ive had a 660 for about 5 years or something
>>53713107
The 960 is a solid midrange card for 1080p gaming.
If you can wait however, new cards are expected by summer.
If not the 960 is still a good buy now.
>>53713159
thanks man, i guess i could wait a few months. Im guessing that means the currently v good cards will be cheaper
>>53713237
it should mean that, the new cards are supposed to be on a much smaller process node making them much more power efficient for the same performance. So waiting a few months could either get you a current card for less, or a new card with similar performance and less power draw.
Upgrading to a 5820k and a GTX 960 in a week or two.
Also have a second PB258Q monitor on the way.
>>53713297
CPU temp... ouch
>>53713314
Yup, and that's with an after market cooler.
One of the several reasons i'm replacing it with a 5820k next week.

It sits between 9 and 15, spiking to 20. Its a pretty warm day today too here in the UK, where I am its 8 °C. I am in the attic, room temp is maybe 22°C
3°C was literally speccy, a couple of tabs in chrome and spotify.

I'm always at 61°C, so either it's a super stable temp, or I have a bad sensor. My Mobo reports ~30°C temps.

speccy isn't showing correct temps.
On speccy i have 11C on my fx6100 while really it is 30
>>53716963
speccy always shows the wrong temps for amd
>>53717018
That is because how AMD CPUs report temperatures.
APUs dont have this problem.

The problem is that 16 GiB RAM is a meme, but 12 isn't nor is 32
>>53718406
The thinking things is a meme is a meme in itself.
Just finished putting it together last night. Thought Noctuas were just a meme.
Also 1T hard rive and 180gb ssd, no op drive or sound
To lazy to wait
I was like 2 seconds from getting a 6700k and z170 Asus board yesterday. I even had the 16gb kit of ddr4 3200mhz in my hands. I managed to talk myself down though. I said I'd wait for Zen before making a move, and I'll damned well stick to that plan.
>>53718398
is your PC a tiny mitx build stuffed into an no airflow case or something? What is your stuff so hot? Unless you just got done playing a game. But even then, that's warm.

Started as i3-2120 with 8GB of RAM, AMD 6850 and using the Intel SSD as main drive back in 2012. Upgraded to a second-hand i5-3570 back in January. Got the Sapphire 390, Sandisk SSD, two more RAM sticks and a new PSU this month. Extremely satisfied from the 1155 platform, my old 6850 (it aged very well) and the Intel SSD (rock-solid, hassle free).

Why did you load windows on your stove
>>53719965
It's a bug/limitation of Windows 7. Regardless, games do use the entire memory, it's just a problem with Windows 7 recognizing the amoung

Ended up selling it and picking up a 4790K when microcenter was selling them for cheap as shit, so it wasn't a horrible deal.
Eh, I don't think my speccy has ever been rated.
