I can't tell which is worse. At least with AMD if you were smart enough to get a 650w+ PSU you should be fine for even the 390x. But with Nvidia, unless you're using an asus motherboard it shouldn't cause serious issues for a couple of years.
Why won't a third company step up and start developing GPUs for desktops and laptops?
