Seriously, Microsoft got the Explorer perfect in Windows 8, especially with the Ribbon UI at the top. It doesn't need to be changed in Windows 10.

UWP has evolved to a point that a file explorer made by it could be functional.
There are some things, though, that users will lose inevitably. Context menu, tag editor, Ribbon customization are some things that come into my mind.
Even if there is this change, I find hard to see that explorer.exe will disappear, we still have Paint and Windows Media Player even if FreshPaint and Groove exists. Also, Windows Insider Program has been helpful to let the developers what the users need in order to make this new File Explorer better.

Yup, that shit needs to GTFO. The oversized buttons on touchscreen UIs absolutely suck when you're using a mouse - they fill tons of content space, don't show as much on screen, and require more mouse movement to use.
for example, the win 10 alarm clock app. While it's useful it had had a GARBAGE desktop UI until the latest version. You couldn't scroll the number pickers, you had to click up/down or drag with the mouse. The popups had OK/cancel buttons despite the entire window having a save button. Andthe buttons were similar shades of grey you wouldn't even notice the buttons. The newer version (a couple weeks old now) is more usable on desktop, although uglier.
It looks futuristic like some Linux distro from the future.
As long as I get my Onedrive placeholders back, I don't mind.

I want to be able to change the fonts and size to whatever the fuck I want. Annoys me to no end how they misuse space just because they are lazy fuckers that don't do proper work on scaling with high dpi monitors.
That being said it looks a lot better than the horrible ribbon explorer introduced in Windows 8. But still a step backwards than a simple Explorer window without the fuckery of random folders and shit I don't need.
Right now your best bet is to run a shit hack called oldexplorer to get rid of the ribbon on Windows 8 and 10 and it's usable.
