Why youtube's html5 player add a whitish layer over some videos?

It doesn't "add a whitish layer", it's not displaying the proper colour space.
Have a look in nvidia control panel if you have an nvidia card, there are options there somewhere to force videos to USD Nvidias colour settings. Make sure it's set to RGB full range and not limited range. Sorry I'm being vague, on my phone RN so can't remember what exactly the options are called.
