Why the tiny board?
preemptive question answering: double filters and positive pressure means no dust on the foam, temps are literally no different, and yes, it does deaden the last of the sound and is inaudible under load
>>53685653
Is that an HP or Dell sff PC? I think my PSU fucked itself and the error code is four beeps with Amber LEDs but the green LED on the motherboard still lights up, which I find strange
>>53687282
>Why the tiny board?
tldr: moved from a mATX case for more rad area

I had heaps of foam of similar thickness on my old build and it didn't do much (maybe a 5% reduction if I was being generous)

best in thread so far
I've recently come into the acquisition of two 480GB SSD's that, for the life of me, I can't decide whether to shove into my main computer and have to mess with switching games back and forth from my WD Black, or to throw them into my productivity/casual gaming build and then promptly never use it.
Can I post some issues I'm having with my first build here?
>>53690593
Good to see that you're not afraid to talk about sexuality faggot.
>>53685653
hey man, I went to bed before you posted this. Looking as clean as ever
>>53687014
Yeah, the IDE drive is stuck in the case so I might as well use it. Only one little slit for the IDE cable, MoBo cable, Molex power and the front I/O connectors so cabling is a bitch. The drive overhangs this hole as well
Nice rig though, Clean AF
>>53687082
Big case small MoBo. Atleast you're the only person I've seen who uses that bottom area properly and actually fills it with a thick rad
The cooler only mounts properly this way, and only fits in the case this way. I have moved the exhaust fan to above it to accommodate but I borrowed my friends camera to take this pic and I ain't going back to shitty HTC pictures
IDE drive is stuck in the case, might aswell use it
8/10
>>53687282
>Power to conquer this cable nightmare
Only one slot for the ide cable, molex cable, mobo cable. the Disk Drive, which is stuck in the case, over hangs this hole and I have a Molex - 3pin adaptor underneath the drive. Eventually I'll get the drive out and make it look better, if the front panel comes off
What's foam like for dust anyway? the fact it gets super dusty and impossible to clean was the major turn off for me. Looking good though, 8/10

post. Good solution
here is the /guts/ of my shit tier potato pleb-built crap I bought a few years ago, slowly putting together a new PC just buying the shit slowly
Specs:
Motherboard: MSI 760gm P23(fx)
CPU: AMD FX 4300
Ram: I have no idea, but its 8 gigs and barely passable
>green pcb
CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 612 v2
GPU: AMD Radeon HD6450
PSU: Thermalcuck Plebpower 350w
Fans: Lots, 4 intakes, 2 exhaust, 1 of which is nigger rigged in the front (i will post pictures in reply to this post) and one is turned 45 degrees so it actually fits allowing me to close my case.
>ew led fans
1 on the front is the case fan my shit case came with, and the other on top is the one from my case im putting my pc im putting together in, because im going to order noctua hff12 fans to replace all the fans the shit is going to use.
I re-cable managed a lot of the cables when I first got this pleb-built, there is actually a molex to (5) 4 pin fan adapter thats been cable managed in the back.
please mock my garbage so I can feel bad about my decisions in life.
>>53693167
the nigger rigged fan (its basically in line with the fan of the cpu cooler
>noctua hff12
Noctua Nf-f12's, 5 of them to be exact 2 front in take, 2 on AOI exhaust and 1 rear exhaust
>>53693167

It's been a while since I posted in one of these threads.
Somehow I expected everything would be a lot smaller when building mATX, so I've just had to deal with knowing how there's a lot of empty unused space in it. It's just not very visually pleasing, and in a sense I was more satisfied with my old jam-packed ATX case, even if that was too big, physically speaking. If I'm to build anything new, I guess I'll go even smaller, I rememer seeing lots of cool mITX cases in these threads before.
>>53694297

And while it doesn't look like it in the first photo, there is space between the HSF and GPU, it's just the angle that makes it look like there isn't.

How did I do? 1st build ever 1st time firing it up
>>53714830
good for 1st time
>>53714830
>>53714830
>>53714855
good for a first time, but why is the CPU cooler in that orientation?
6/10
Its my Q6600 rig. I had an antec p183 something case once.
That pile of junk is dead.
>>53714919
that's pretty ghetto, but it's good ghetto
>>53714830
>>53714855
6/10, good job for first time
i would turn the CPU cooler so it is in line with the rear exhaust fan for the best performance, because at the moment it is sucking up the heat from the GPU
>>53714895
I read that that was the best way. Heat rises= point fans up
>>53714963
Hmm. Alright.
But since
>>53714966
I'll try both.
>>53714966
doesn't make much of a difference, but you GPU is forced into a slower slot and your exhaust is on the back, not the top. Put it in the normal orientation, it'll be better
>>53714919
ghetto/10
>>53715041
I believe my tower has both, I'll check when I get home. Good point about the gpu tho.
>>53714984
What I meant by best performance in >>53714963
is what this anon said >>53715073
best performance over all because the GPU is in a slow PCIE slot, ideally you want a single gpu in the top most slot amd you get getting direct exhaust of the heat from the CPU as well.
Sup /guts/,
I'm really lost between which motherboard to choose. Either MSI or Asus (brands don't matter), and the differences are as follows:
MSI is $20 cheaper
Asus supports memory OC (I plan to eventually), MSI can only do stock 2133Mhz
MSI has 2 usb3.1 gen2 ports, Asus has 1
Asus has 32gbit M2 support 32gbit/s (I plan to eventually). MSI does too I think but it's tainted in bullshit (i.e. "MSI Turbo M2" for 32gbit/s)
MSI has 2 PS2 ports, Asus has 1 (I prefer ps2)
Both support CF (I plan to eventually)
I think the MSI motherboard is also made of higher quality material, not sure. It also has LED lighting which is nice. The Asus board looks weird with that added plastic. It also feels like I'm paying a premium for SLI support which I don't need.
Thoughts?

>>53715166
The MSI is non-overclockable, and it's MSI - which is shit
get the Asus
Getting a hyper 212 evo soon
>inb4 meme cooler
A guy that leaves close to me is selling a week year old one for20 less from what i can get it in store
>>53715199
Looking forward to seeing the PC with a proper cooler
>>53715198
That's kind of the thing I'm not planning to OC the CPU. Getting an i5-6500, although I can get a 6600K some years down the road I guess...
>>53715199
Wow i really fucked that
A guy that lives close to me is selling a week old one for 20 euros less from what i can get it new
>inb4 ur high
i am
>>53715234
Well the ASUS is better value, and the MSI is MSI, aka super shitty.
Get the Asus
>>53715234
even if you dont plan to overclock you might as well get the asus one that allows overclockability if its only $20 more, that way if you ever did plan to over clock with a different CPU and other stuff you dont need to buy a whole new motherboard.
>>53715267
MSI isn't that bad imo, there are different tiers of materials they use, quality wise. Thanks though, I think I'll go with the ASUS board. Now to find a new case with 4 USB3.0 ports since the ASUS board has one 3 usb ports at the rear.
>>53715275
Totally makes sense. I'd rather upgrade the CPU eventually instead of spending more money on both motherboard and CPU. The ASUS' features are more likely to give me a comfortable space for future upgrade like faster ram, m2, usb 3.1 type c devices etc.
Thanks for all the help! Hopefully I can post a built in these threads soon.
>>53715400
look forward to seeing it
