So last week I got a really short try at trying the Samsung Gear VR and I was actually surprised about how cool it was.
So when I got home I started googling , and got really excited about buying a Samsung S6 and a Gear VR. However now that the excitement is settled a little, I am wondering whether it is really worth it, or whether it's still more of a gimmick. I' m currently still using a Samsung S2 and honestly, I haven't been to bothered to upgrade it since it does what I need it to do just fine.
So what I am asking is whether people could share their experiences with it. Do you find that it's worth the money? What kind of uses have you found for it? Etc.

Don't get it with an S6 because it barely works with it. I tried it with my S6 edge and it can only function for about 15 minutes before you get a warning about your phone overheating and it needs to cool down. The Gear VR was made for the S7 with its watercooling whatever. If you're fine with 15 minute intervals, then go for it. For me, I wanted to just kick back and watch youtube videos in peace but I couldn't even do that. 3D porn was pretty great though but not $99.99 great.

I have no experience with it, but you do. How long did you use it and can you feel the weight on your head? I'm thinking of getting the HTC Vive

Thanks for the useful reply. I have to say that the prospect of 3D porn is pretty good, but I can imagine that the content is still quite limited and/or you' ll have to pay for it.

Not long, maybe 30 seconds. I wasn't bothered by the weight at all, but I' m not sure if that says a lot, seeing as I only tried it for such a short time.

Ps.
On the other hand, I didn't even think about the weight being an issue after trying it. So I can imagine it not being really bad.

I got my gear vr yesterday it was free (s7 pre-order) I like it. It is a toy, not a serious device. Porn is awesome, but everything feels like 720p in it. I see pixels in my s7 edge.
