>>

no reason specs and performance wise, but the severe lack of software updates of any kind, including important security updates, means that many phone makers are basically forcing you to upgrade eventually.

Sitting on a Galaxy S3 btw.

That's when you install a different app launcher. Nova hasn't slowed me down any since installing it forever ago (I often forget I'm even using it).

Samsung alpha here and it's perfect, but it got water damaged while riding my motorbike so now half the screen isn't responsive to touch (especially around the headphone jack). If it was working good I'd definitely keep it.

>>
HTC 8S reporting.
>>
Had galaxy s2 until it died two weeks ago. It was enough for taking pictures and music. Battery life was alright (i had an extended battery though). Hell, the community is still somewhat active and last time i checked we had a working cm 12.1. My only problem was the fact that any newer custom roms had a shitty cam because cam relies heavily on Samsung's framework. But since it died, i got myself a nexus 5x and I'm very happy with it. The cam is fantastic. It sleeps super nice. I only feel it discharges very fast when the screen is on. But it's not an amoled screen. Inb4 should have gotten 6p - i have baby fingers. 5x is a bit too huge but I'm getting used to it.
>>
>>53657240
>nightly
see that's the problem, having to choose between stable and insecure, versus secure but potentially unstable. The later is not a situation I want to be in when I need the phone to just work.
>>
>>53654968
This. Would get literally zero benefit from upgrading except my pockets would be a bit lighter
>>
Motogola G2 here.

There are only 2 areas where I would appreciate a more powerful phone: Nintendo DS emulation and maybe Hearthstone.

For the former there simply isn't a speed-oriented DS libretro core at the moment so my phone struggles with Desmume, which focuses on accuracy and lags even on my mainstream laptop.

Hearthstone on the other hand is simply bloated and heavy, and makes my phone lag and overheat. I simply gave up trying to play it in order to conserve battery life.

tl;dr: some CPU snags but not big enough to bother upgrading.

>app launchers
>for removing touchwiz

Touchwiz is not just the stock launcher, it is the stock OS on samsung phones. Open your settings app, it hasn't changed at all from stock. Drag your notification bar down - still samsung stock.

Open the god damn camera, it's still the same.

let me use an anal/o/gy: changing the launcher is like changing the paint, adding some fancy seats and replacing the steering wheel. Sure, it may feel a bit more comfortable and personal now, but you haven't changed some of the parts in the engine (rooting) nor replaced the whole thing (installing custom roms)

I'm just a drunk pole so I won't be mad if you get mad at my silly ramblings.

OnePlus One.
fucking nightlies but its cool, and i can just use it as a mini-plate when it reboots again.

I have a LG G2 which I bought after my last phone LGoptimus One) stopped working completely.

I predict my next phone will be bought after 2020

Your digitizer will die before then unfortunately

LG makes great phones with inevitably faulty displays

>using OPO

using 1st gen moto /g/ with some nightly cm13
finna replace it when it breaks down
which is propably going to take a while, seeing how it survived everytime i dropped it

HOLY FUCK
the bullshitting with the compass is the worst.
like yeah, 300€ random gps orientation generator.
can i somehow not loose all my data when going to Sultan ? aka can you dirtyflash it ?

Factory reset required, but you don't need to wipe the storage partition.

I've probably reflashed 15 different roms in the 2 years I've owned it just to try out stuff and am still on the same original storage partition it came with.
>>
>>53663918

I forgot to mention that I also have an iphone 6 which i got from work
>>
>>53663922
This is why I don't bother installing CM anymore. With the newer androids you can disable almost anything you need to without rooting, so a factory firmware that I KNOW works is better than 'oops we disabled 2 of your bands on accident, but you won't realize it until you're on vacation away from your computer when you need your phone the most'

Alternatively, you could go with Oxygen OS.

I've never actually gotten around to trying it, but apparently since it's actually made for the OPO by the actual maker of the phone, everything works fine. Go figure.

G3 with a 600 mAh battery here. i don't see buying a new phone in the next year or two at this rate.

maybe a G6 or G7 because i'm not exactly crazy about the G5.

LG - life's good.

I generally wait for a feature or aspect I actually really want.

Droid was my first smartphone, for the slide out.

Then to a 4S for form factor.

Then to a Moto X for cool appearance shit.

Nexus 6 was only to beta Fi.

Nexus 5X to keep Fi and go back to a manageable for factor.

It comes with everything you'd expect (e.g. IRC, MPD, XMPP, SSH clients) and a reasonable terminal, so I'm happy.

There's also a big repo of packages over at https://openrepos.net/ (you can use zypper on the thing), in case you're missing some lib or something.
