Or someone might be using sound waves and the laptop's microphone to create an image of the room to find out if you are masturbating. For true protection you need to tape your headphones and microphone as well.
There was a site a few years ago which used an exploit in Flash to get access to your Web camera. If you visited that site an image was automatically taken and added to the gallery on that site. Since then I tape my cam.
