>not using a PS/2 keyboard
all ps/2 keyboards have n-key rollover anons
USB is shit
>>
Not all modern motherboards support PS/2 anymore. Besides, why would you ever press that many buttons at the same time? Even stenographers don't do that, and stenography works fine with 6KRO keyboards that are available these days over USB, some USB keyboards even have no KRO at all.
>>
>>53623668
ps/2 doesnt have shared bus therefore less lag
>>
>>53623638
Not really, my 14-year old Logitech Premium Desktop PS/2 kb causes that beep if you press 3 keys at the same time while most of the other keyboards are supposed to do that only after the fourth key.
>>
My Model M wouldn't work with my MSI motherboard even though it had a PS/2 port so I had to get a USB converter.
>>
>>53623679
Humans can't even detect that lag you fucking numbskull.
>>
>>53623638
Yet somehow I am able to rise out of bed each day and carry on. This is a burden almost too great to bear indeed OP.

And thanks for letting me know the current yr. I like to be reminded of that daily. And that is why I come here. Because there is always someone starting out a thread informing us all what the current yr is. You and the team you are a member of are a service to the many that struggle each day calendarless. Kudos to you my friend. Kudos to you.

That is false. I have a shit-ass HP keyboard hat did not have n-key rollover.

I don't remember if we were too retarded to change the buttons or we just didn't care enough.

I have never needed this. Not once in my life.

I'm using an LG ps2 keyboard/mouse because a clean install of windows 7 did not recognize my new motherboards usb comtroller so I had to get ps2 input to navigate/install. I like it

go back to r/eddit or something

Most don't: you need diodes across the switches to have a chance of supporting NKRO, iirc. Then you also need keyboard controller firmware support on top of that.

There's also no reason USB only supports 6KRO, but the Windows USB HID driver only supports 6 plus modifiers pressed at once by default (approximately). You can get around it simply by offering a composite device with several HID keyboard devices. Or use Linux.

Also, beware: PS/2 is not necessarily hot-swappable. Remove all power from the motherboard (including +5Vsb!) before removing/inserting to be sure. Many modern keyboard controllers have a polyfuse/spike protection on the PS/2 lines: but because it is not part of the spec because the spec is very, very old, many, particularly cheap ones, do not. You might get away with it 99.9% of the time, but I've seen it fry Pentium-II class motherboards. Whether that's still a problem depends on how cheap your mobo manufacturers were feeling; do you feel lucky, ECS?

Why would you want PS2? PS4 is already out and soon PS4.
>>
>>53623679
If it's giving you lag you notice then you have bigger problems. Shared bus lag is is measured in computer cycles.

Model M doesn't have NKey rollover though...

incorrect. The Model M, notably, is 2KRO.
>>
>>53623638
As much as I like PS2, you have to admit that one smaller connector is more convenient vs having TWO of those monstrosities just to work with something like a unicomp+tracball, or a WASD Code with a backlight with the bundle of cables that comes with
>>
I would need a PS/2 to USB adapter, and that's rather pointless. Hell giving up my USB keyboard would be.
