So is there any point in keeping these anymore? What with muh cloud storage, huge USB storage, and even using them as loaders as well.
>storing anything on a cloud
they're good for LiveCDs, OSs, and Programs
flash memory will lose data overtime, cloud services will close down / sell your data to bonzi buddy but a cd unless you scratch it will last you for years and years.

They're durable, fairly cheap, and if you use an erasure code across a couple of them you can get very reliable data storage.
Blurays I'm much less sure about. They cost WAY too much, despite not being new anymore.
I only use them for consoles and systems that don't support USB boot, they're definitely still handy.
Keep password cracks on a couple. Make CD'S for my girlfriend. Romantic shit.
my laptop doesn't like booting off a USB so I use them to install OS's and what not.

I use them as scarecrows. The birds don't like the reflection of the sun when the disks are rotated by wind.

i have 600 pieces of bd-r.
fight me.

what are you smoking?
you can get a 25GB bd-r for 50 cents.
still way cheaper than a hdd, price/gb.

Why do hipsters work themselves into such a lather over this trivial bullshit?

I need the optical drive because i buy music CDs.
Still the only way to give a lot of people a DVD worth of shit cheaply if you don't plan on seeing them again. $15 for 100 or so versus how many 6gb flash drives. But for home or office there's no real point

I have some for OS installers, live cds, core driver backups, ect.
Otherwise everything goes on various hdds.
fucc emulators desu senpai

if you actually want physical media that you can file away in a cabinet instead of a thousand little flash drives to step on
M-disc blurays for long term archival.
Other than that it's deprecated.
