Android is in a point of no return.

iPhones are getting faster and better after each iteration. Meanwhile Android flagships barely improve their performance despite having extremely powerful hardware as well. They cant even run encryption.

In a couple of years there will be no reason to buy Android anymore because iOS will have reached technological nirvana.
>>
>>53596581
Android could still pull it off. 4.4 was a good boost in speed, 5 was a downgrade, 6 is between 4.4 and 5 in speed but with better battery life due to Doze. If it can get back to 4.4 speeds and reduce all the SHIT running in the background we'll be good to go
>>
>>53596581
>In a couple of years there will be no reason to buy Android anymore

Apart from the huge difference in cost. You know, the reason most consumers buy Android already. Apple have no interest in the bduget market.

>>
>iOS
>Getting security right
Except for having more security vulnerabilities than Adobe fucking Flash.

http://venturebeat.com/2015/12/31/software-with-the-most-vulnerabilities-in-2015-mac-os-x-ios-and-flash/

iOS is security theater. The average user will think that since the OS is so locked down that they can't even run the applications that want, that logically no one else can. But in reality, it and Mac OS X are insecure shitpiles.

Android, by comparison, actually is secure. It's had its big vulnerabilities like any other software, but it generally gets patched by Google fairly quickly. That many phone manufacturers choose to take their sweet precious time with patching vulnerabilities is their own problem. Anyone using AOSP, Cyanogenmod, or the stock Android that comes with a Nexus device is fairly secure.

>>53596581

iOS appears to be fast because the CPU scheduler favors threads that render animations and other UI gimmicks. If you actually try a side by side comparison of Android and iOS at starting up applications, however, you'll find Android has the advantage.

>No reason to use Android
Except for, you know, the ability to run whatever mobile applications you want, instead of just what Apple tells you you're allowed to want.

I have a file manager. You don't.
>>
>>53598275
>I have a file manager. You don't.
And? I don't need that shit on my PHONE
>>
>>53597918
>>53597937

Though a majority of Android users are poor (because a majority of the world is poor, and poor people cannot use iPhones), one should not mistake affordability for Android's greatest strength. Even if the only Android phones on the market were flagships that cost as much as an iPhone, it would all be a better operating system.

Imagine if I sold you a Windows laptop with a locked down boot loader, no administrative account, and no ability to run any applications not sold on the windows store. You'd probably think of this as a bum deal.

Now we'll make it chock full of security vulnerabilities, so that even though you may not be able to run applications that you want to on it, anyone with some expertise in malware can. You'd probably consider getting one of these malware programmers to help you "break" your laptop out of the hypothetical jail cell that it currently is in. But can you really trust these people not to insert their own backdoors or botnets on it? And do you really want to leave your phone perpetually insecure, knowing you'd lose your freedom if you install a security update?

You wouldn't every accept these terms in a personal computer. But ask yourself this -- if the form factor changes from a keyboard, mouse/trackpad, and screen to just a touch screen, is it any less a personal computer if you're still using it for web browsing, media consumption, and sometimes even creating documents?

What a fucking lie.

iOS is getting bloated and slower with every iteration, being noticeably slower on anything other than their current flagship models while Android has consistently increased in performance across all phones it is ported to without removing features to maintain the performance gains.

This so much. How the fuck does Infinity Blade 3 run at a constant 30FPS on the iPhone 4S (pic related) yet the iOS9 UI itself runs at a lower frame rate and it takes 15 seconds before it would accept any input from the keyboard. It's either Apple doesn't know how to optimize iOS properly or they are introducing planned obsolescence.

To be fair, a Jailbroken iPhone is LIGHTYEARS ahead of Android.

The only thing Android has is that it's open to unknown sources. You jailbreak an iPhone and you have an awesome device that will receive every notable update in its life span that you can install tweaks on just like Android.
>>
>>53602618
>paying for tweaks
>>
>>53598275
ios doesn't have a file manager? huh?
>>
>>53598472
All beggars from Romania have iphones
>>
>>53602618

The problem with jailbroken iPhones is that they require a security vulnerability to get into that state, and patching that vulnerability often removes the jailbreak. So the choice is either freedom with the knowledge that there is at least one exploitable vulnerability on your phone that you can't get rid of, or no freedom.

Android is much more comforting in this respect. With the exception of some Samsung phones, rooting does not require any vulnerabilities. You just unlock the bootloader (in many cases, the phone manufacturer will provide information on how to do this), install a recovery through fastboot, and flash your superuser binary or custom ROM. That's it. For me, since I'm using Cyanogenmod, if I want a security update, I just flash the latest image. I'm still rooted. But even on stock ROMs, updating doesn't remove TWRP or SuperSU.

I use my android for torrents, kodi, as a media server, FTP and a secondary remote control for home automation among other things. I have a few SD cards in my wallet with huge music libraries that I can just put in and access in Poweramp and listen using BT in my car. I can transfer files to SD/direct to phone at work using Linux and windows machines without any proprietary bullshit bloated software or device HD restrictions.

Anyone I know with an ounce of technical credibility is using android, even my gf switched to android after getting tired of having to mess around trying to get music on her device.

Apple seems to me is for posers who like style over substance and like being fucked in the ass every few months when thier product becomes obsolete and eventually gets crippled by OS updates.

"Gotta get that iPhone 6 muh iphone 5 isn't fashionable anymore".

Typically the first thing someone will do when they've stolen a phone or found one they intend to keep is turn it off. I have location services on and it would be easy to find if they didnt, they'd also have to get past my pin lock. The SD is formatted too as I store family photos etc on there and I wouldn't want them falling into the hands of a pedo like you.

I swear when I had an iPhone whenever an iOS update was released my phone would get buggy and play up, crashing apps frequently, keyboard not typing etc.
That is of course until I downloaded the update,

The thing is, prior to the update release my phone would function absoloutely fine, as soon as the update was avaiable - kaput.
I always suspected that Apple would intentionally 'break' the older iOS without the user knowing to encourage updates etc,
I don't know shit though, just my 2 cents.
