I am trying to work out if it's worth the effort. I have 4 PCs at our home which I can use.
Do you think it can generate enough income to even cover the energy cost?
What if I was only minig when I am using the PC anyway?
Also, would each PC need it's own wallet?
if you didn't buy the machines specifically to mine bitcoins, and if you pay for your electricity, then it's not worth doing it anymore.
Home mining is not profitable AT ALL anymore. ASIC miners have completely taken over the market. Save your electricity and money. It's ogre.

You are about 5 years too late for random home consumer to get into it. Asic killed GPU mining in 2013 and GPU mining was already turning out to be not verify profitable at that point from everyone jumping in.
The responses in this thread are accurate. Maybe 5 years ago you could have pumped out about $10/week, but today it's impossible to make any measurable profit, even with free hardware and electricity.
Also, don't think about buying custom hardware. The growing infrastructure and improving technology will burn you before your custom hardware pays off.
