Prolly going MATE though, not vanilla.

>>

>le I can't into different designs

Why does everyone simply wants the same?

Left hided dock beats all.
>>
>>53584868
Nice, I might consider this now. Unity is so modern.
>>
>>53584868

Windows has had this capability since 1994.
>>
>tfw arch+gnome
>>
>took them just how many years
>>
>>53584868
Do you think we'll ever get to put it on the right?
>>
>>53584868
Y-you mean this basic feature wasn't there in the beginning?
Why would I trust my computer to such incompetent fucks?
>>
>>53585232

OSS developers are too busy forking every project for bullshit political reasons. They don't have time to make any actual improvements
>>
>>53585204
I've always put my windows bar on the left... Don't know why but it's comfier imo
>>
whyd yoy want it bottom

theres so little vertical space its best at side
>>
>>53585333
checked
>muh wangblows similarity
>>
>>53584868
shits terrible, how do you even change it to the bottom, why don't the fucking commands work like apt-get install macchanger. debian is better and so is gnome 3

>still has a top bar
in the trash it goes.

sticking with gnome and their extensions until a real DE is developed for linux.

you'd think after 20 years of development, they would have done this by now.
>>
>>53585503
Problem is none of the competent devs are interested in polishing the UI turds that normal people are expected to use.

Just switch to a tiling wm like the rest of us.

You position the taskbar depending on your screen's aspect ratio, idiot.

>not widescreen
Taskbar on bottom
>widescreen
Taskbar on the side, to conserve vertical space

Xubuntu.

Doesn't make sense tbqh.

To have even more space horizontally
>>
Will this work on the daily build?
Tempted to install on my test machine just to see if I can really move on from xubuntu after all these years out in the wilderness.

Its literally been like about 6 years since hordes of us went to xubuntu after unshity and even though unity is still there, they might just have made it usable enough to get shit done
>>
Many IDE required wide screen view to be useful.
Taskbar on bottom make sense in this case.
>>
>>53585855

softpedia.com. literally on the screenshot.
>>
>>53584868
how to put it to the bottom? I don't see anything in settings

Mac levels of retard.

Why the FUCK would you want it at the bottom. The whole point was for it to be on the left.

kek'd so hard
final nail in the coffin for ubuntu, nobody will use systemd infected shit and have important servers break and fall to exploits from poetteringware.
>>
>>53586993
which is terribly funny cause all distros which are put to actual work everyday, even applications considered mission critical like rhel or sles use systemdicks.

Do you even know what you're talking about?

It's like a lot of the naysayers in this thread have no clue whatsoever.

Reminder:
>Unity is a graphical shell for the GNOME desktop environment developed by Canonical Ltd. for its Ubuntu operating system

Your comment makes practically no sense in the context. That the taskbar was on the left was just the way Canonical wanted it to be in Unity to have a uniform look to an ordinary Ubuntu system. That's all.
>>
>>53586953
it reminds me of windows 7 a little...
>>
>>53584868
Why not Linux Mint? Ubunbtu is more like Amazon's Windows 10 and you're just the same kind of cow.

>>53584904
Now I heard about the nVidia ones...
>>
Thought we abandoned Ubuntu because of Unity botnet.
>>
Dock on the left/right makes the most sense but it should have been possible to move it from the beginning.
>>
>>53588439
some haven't...
why, that's the question and the answer is, just like windows 10 users, they have not been told.

Amazon?

Which is also going away by 16.04. It might be that Unity will be actually good finally.

Time to grow up, and use a proper window manager, like i3, and a composer to rice it up. like compton.

Desktop environments bring only bloat.
>>
>>53584868
Only thing stopping me from switching to Ubuntu is a fucking wifi driver. Screw Realtek, why can't it provide proper Linux drivers?
