I agree.
Sandisk products, just like anything made by a US based company should be phased out to cut funding to mass surveillance.

Flagships are losing their SD card slot, both Google and Apple hate them, and soon the copycat chinese will follow.
>>
>>53571545
Google and Apple always hated giving user choice. Samsung and HTC bought micro SD back after failing without it.

And there is no way our Chinese friends will drop them. It's easy to milk idiots in the west because brain dead children fall for the streaming meme here, good luck doing that in China.
>>
>>53571574
What is there to stream in China except socialist propaganda?

If I was a criminal i would love micro sd cards.
Tons of storage for your illegal shit and small enough to hide anywhere or swallow if shit hits the fan.

>>53571650

The police can just wait, that shit will work just fine.

>buy a $50-100 SD card to get double the storage
64GB SD cards are $20.
Unless you're buying the 'pro/extreme/whatever' versions with high write speeds, which tehre's no point in, SD storage is way less expensive than eMMC.
>>
>>53571692
Obviously you don't swallow it directly in front of police.
>>
>>53571693
I was favoring the internal storage side with the pricing just to demonstrate why SD cards are inherently a better value.

When 64GB micro first became available here I managed to get one for a little over $50.

why not just flush it down the loo? it'll be so covered in poo that the police won't be able to find it in the sewer
>>
>>53571825
Whatever your situation allows, I just thought about swallowing it because its pretty much the only storage device that you can easily swallow.

>>

I see all the time they use security as reasoning for no card slot, is there really any other reason for not having one?

This.
If Googles ecosystem would be more open it wouldn't be an ecosystem anymore.

You know where you should go.
>>
>>53572158
None of the Nexuses have SD card slots, do they?
GPL is the main reason Android is not as locked down as iOS.
Google does seem to believe in experimentation, which leads to their platforms being more open, but they're not doing it for the power it gives users, which - like all companies- it despises.
>>
>>53572158
"Everybody likes the idea of having an SD card, but in reality it’s just confusing for users.

If you’re saving photos, videos or music, where does it go? Is it on your phone? Or on your card? Should there be a setting? Prompt everytime? What happens to the experience when you swap out the card? It’s just too complicated."

because people instal app on SD cards. If causes problems and lags.

Google dont want people to beleve their OS is slow because dumbass use cheap cards to store apps
>>
>>53572759
So instead of giving the user the choice, they just cut off sd cards to make it easy to use for idiots? Sounds a lot like that one company everybody bitches about.
>>
>>53572759
and therefore they charge 50$ extra for 16gb more internal storage

stupid fucker you are
>>
>>53572808
Which is slow as fuck too. At least Apple users know that they get raped and don't pretend otherwise.
>>
>>53572158
Jewgle FUCKING HATES micro sd.

Why? Because they want to force people to use their cloud services
>>
>>53572808
internal storage have no issue because its good quality. And it also doesnt have the glitchs when people shit with cards when they use them on their computers

you didnt get my point at all kek
>>
>>53572897
Good micro sd cards never have glitches either.

been using a micro sd in my phones for at least two years now, never had a single problem with it

how small could you make a wifi device with a card in it? small enough to fit in the kind of protective case people have their phones in anyway?

could you do that and then get to the card via the phone's wifi or bluetooth?

ive seen someone do something like this before and it was the size of a large keyfob and he kept it on his key ring
>>
>>53577729
Smaller. The size of a full size SD card. There are WiFi SD cards and WiFi micro SD adapters. Just needs power from the phone
>>
>>53578092

or it's own thin lipo battery

seems like that would be a good product, a protective phone case with half a terabyte of storage in it....

especially since there is no real easy other way to do that
>>
>>53569029
This
>>
>>53578195
And really with the little power that it needs you could probably have a tiny solar panel so that you'd never need to swap the battery

Oh yeah did I forget to mention that the tiny ARM chip on the wifi portion runs fucking Linux? They have huge vulnerabilities by default so it's easy to get access and use it for projects
