Can my HDD just fucking die out of the blue in like 1 second? I was on sadpanda and it started clicking and beeping, screen froze and it won't turn on anymore(doesn't recognize HDD). I tried connecting an old one I had as storage unit and it works perfectly(won't start because no OS) so it's certainly the HDD.
Honestly it's kinda upsetting since I had stuff back from 2008 or so and I lost all my photos, anime and shit.

it might just be a failed component on the circuit board.
if you can get hold of another drive of the same model and if you can swap the circuit boards, you might be able to read your porn again.

Not necessarily. The drive had probably been failing for a while, you just don't notice until the drive actually dies.

HDD failure is really common man. clicking is usually the first sign of a failing hdd.

Yes, all of my dead HDDs have gone that way, no forewarning at all.
