Not the best explanation, but the full resolution comes into play when you're working with photo and video; where at least with the 5k iMac, you can actually display 4k video pixel for pixel unobstructed, and still have space for tool palettes. For non media stuff like web browsing, writing, etc, the effective resolution is lowered, but those extra pixels are still used to give better anti-aliasing. You can force it to full resolution, but it becomes impractical to use.

I've suffered from RSI for close to 10 years. Got it in college from playing games and shit and it never went away. I spent close to $1000 on various ergo stuff (goofy keyboards, chair, desk, goofy mouses, footrest etc) and when I got a rMBP, I got a free Magic Mouse due to some promo. I didn't even open a box for few months because I thought it was shit. One day, my old mouse died and I needed a new one and while I was waiting for a replacement to come, I decided to use Magic Mouse.

the way it sits so low on the desk allows you to cup it easily with your hand and your WRIST rests on the desk. If you have RSI or don't want RSI, that's the best position to be in. Fuck all those other positions... they're way more painful & do more damage.

I've been forced to use that shit for an extended period of time and it's by far the most uncomfortable mouse I've ever used. Its shape is awful to hold, the use of gestures over buttons is unintuitive, and whoever decided to make something you hold for long periods of time glossy should be shot. I also have no idea how you can think that it's better for your wrist when in the very image you posted putting your hand flat raises it off the table more than the ergonomic shape.

I use vim for everything. If you use Vim, it's best to remap your caps lock to Esc key. There's a free app that does that.. you should either set it to Esc or Ctrl (if you use Emacs).
