Lets have one of these threads
Friendly reminder that CS degrees aren't even worth the paper they're printed on.

Put more effort into your bait next time.
What should I major in? Information systems?
>>53533750
>>53533750
Lets not.

>Solid middle class income if you work hard
>Steady job
>They can never outsource you
>Don't have to program for a living
I mean, if you're going to college, want to do something /g/ related for a living, and can't get a computer engineering degree, you could do way worse.
>>53533821
Dont take the easy way. Just do computer science. Are you good at math?
>>53533787
there's nothing wrong with this post. At least, taken out of context.
>>53534176
Isn't it just an IT degree with some management thrown in?
>>53534235
from what i've seen, it's spread sheets and html
>>53534201
>Dont take the easy way. Are you good at math
>do computer science
These statements are mutually exclusive
>>53534284
Are you bitter you failed out of your CS program or something lol.
>>53534208
Merge sort is one of the simplest algorithms you can think of and its analysis is trivial. It wouldn't take too much brainstorming to come up with it.
>>53534297
>Someone found the content easy
>He must be an idiot who failed
Why do CS majors always accuse this. I can't follow this thought process at all...

Yeah, I don't think I'll have trouble finding a job.
>>53535564
I wouldn't call the kind of job you can find a job.
>>53535564
If only I had your enterprise copying and pasting skills
>>53533821
Shit yes, easy job just baby sit servers, and build up new infrastructure when the old gets towards end if life. Very low stress.
>>53535791
Clearly you've never worked anywhere, because that could never work. Even if you're building a stupid CRUD app only slightly beyond trivial it wouldn't work.
The most you could get out of copying and pasting from stack overflow is some Todo app with maybe some fancy search and sort functionality from some of the more academic answers.
Once you go a few degrees beyond stack overflow you're in a huge gaping void and then you have to actually do your work using test-driven methods and other bullshit

computational science
the science of computation

So so bitter

>Implying you need a 4 year degree to learn TDD
>Implying that TDD is even covered in CS courses
>>53535914
Implying any of that is relevant when employers want to see a degree from a reputable university

So how many mergesorts level algorithms have you come up with in your life, anon?
>>53535966
I independently came up with Prim's algorithm as a freshman
>>53535930
>a degree
Which could be in anything. Lots of employers would rather hire a history major than a CS major for software jobs.
