Does anyone have any suggestions?
I want the absolute best I can get for a grand.
My focuses are on being good for programming and gaming.

yeah, buy a used rMBP 13". I'm a CS major and almost everyone in my class has a variation of it. every prof has one too. there's few people with ASUS laptops running linux as well but rMBP is so much nicer.

Get either a Thinkpad,or a Toughbook,or a Alienware. I know these ones are good,even if the last one is quite fancy. They all do their job,and can be good for gaming. Oh,and never get a MBP. It's utter shit,I had to work with one. Complete garbage.
