Ubuntu is for win and macfags without any knowledge of how to administrate a GNU/Linux system
>>53524159
No, it's for getting real work done. Linux isn't about 'administrating' a system. If that's what you're looking for, get a new hobby like Minecraft.
>>53524159
Or for people who don't feel like wasting time dicking around with their system all the time. I enjoy Arch, and probably have it on a machine somewhere, but Ubuntu is my workhorse being it just works.

I'm not presently running Ubuntu, but I will when the next LTS comes out in a month.

This is true. Almost any big company uses Ubuntu in its infrastructure. Sometimes Debian, centos or freebsd. Nobody uses hobby-tier distros like arch in production.

Those doing work on projects for such companies do like using Arch, such as myself.

Nobody uses Red Hat anymore. Their prices are too high. Their main customer is the US government and military who they overcharge.
Chinese government and army use Ubuntu Kylin. Look it up.

Buzzwords...faggot, hipster...confirmed loser is the impression. I use Arch and am employed. Never run into problems because I've read what is required and studied before using GNU/Linux.

never used linux but decided to give ubuntu a try because i hear its babbys first linux distro. well if this is babbys first linux distro i dont want to imagine what an advanced one is like, because day 1 i was running into a bunch of issues
>log into pc
>background image shrinks down and tiles itself across screen (minor problem but annoying)
>install steam
>doesn't want to open
>finally get it to open
>it is constantly getting stuck, can't be minimized or closed out of, infact can't click on anything and end up just spamming shit until finally the window closes or minimizes
>can't even scroll up or down a webpage without it stuttering or freezing up
what do i do? i don't want to go back to windows.

>>background image shrinks down and tiles itself across screen (minor problem but annoying)
It's a feature.
>>install steam
Did you install native Linux steam or the Windows version through wine?
Nice to see some linux love. Linux blows windows out of the water as a system. I've tried most distros and DEs but my favorite so far is opensuse tumbleweed, it works really nice with plasma 5

How hard is it to revert from a windows system to a linux os, using linux as a primary system. I can imagine a frustration due to lack of software?

I'll be honest, if you have critical Windows software that you need for work/school and doesn't work on Linux, don't do it. You can maybe start by playing around with Linux in a VM on my current OS to get the hang of things.
>>53528076
RHEL, CentOS, SUSE and to a much lesser extent Solaris are king in enterprise. Now if you said Ubuntu was leading with customers who don't have on premises servers and rely on IaaS services you would have had a point.
Is it possible to run software like, photoshop, sony vegas, blender, adobe afters, nero... on linux?
