That image is a concept render by an iPhone fan, not the real thing. And the rumor is the iPhone 7 will be perhaps 6.6mm thick (the iPhone 6 is 6.9mm) - .3mm is not the reason that Apple will potentially have to dump the 3.5mm headphone jack.

I was honestly thinking of going back to iOS with the iPhone 7 (I've always alternated between Android and iOS over the years, yes it's possible to like both, they're both fine operating systems) but this is honestly going to be a huge deal breaker if the 3.5mm jack goes.
You fags can shill and argue how it's a brilliant move but for everyone else who isn't an idiot we can see that is just screwing over the majority of Apple's customers. Of course Apple can't include a 3.5mm jack and also push new Beats wireless headphones or whatever it is they need to justify their multibillion dollar purchase, and dare I say it increase the thickness of their phones ever so slightly to accomodate a larger battery. I mean sure, Apple may very well be able to make the iPhone 7 thinner because of the 3.5mm jack removal. But at this point who really cares? Phones have reached a 'good enough' point as far as thickness goes. The ergonomics are generally fine for most decent phones out nowadays. It'll just be a new small number for Apple to display on their slides and that's it. Consumers just get proprietary garbage shoved on them and smaller batteries. But muh optimizations!

A few thoughts: you can already access the raw pcm data thru the connect on both the iPhone and many Android phones, bypassing the internal DAC completely. The DAC in the iPhone is actually very good, and measures very good also. They will probably have an internal DAC with a separate legacy connection. Or use Bluetooth for the wireless headphone revolution, brought to you first by Apple® Think different®. Normies Will eat that shit up.
