This seems decent for a beginner, but I don't really like it that much. The boxes are different widths, and that looks kind of strange. Everything is also way too big, and the wallpaper is sort of low res and not very exciting.
Also, why do you have the app drawer and phone icons animated if they sit in the same place? Just add them into your wallpaper in klwp and then they'll stay there.
Actually, you should put all your icons in klwp, and then create a layer mask over the box so that they disappear when they reach the edge.
Try making the date text a little smaller and thinner.

Definitely try hiding the app labels. You probably don't need them there to identify the app and it'll look much better that way.

Used to have a very shitty layout, eventually got sick of it.
I always liked how LCD alarm clocks would be the only thing you saw at night. Just numbers, floating in the dark. If I could find some icons that were slightly less obtrusive (like Lines, what I'm using now, but grey maybe) Id be golden.

I usually just post this screenshot from my Moto x 2014, but I have been wondering, how do you rice a 7 inch tablet?
My nexus 7 2013 looks like shit as is, I never know what layout to use for the desktop grid with nova, it is a rather unfortunate screen size to make the grid look just right. Right now I am using nova launcher with the Flux cm13 theme and icon packs.
I've found that clocks look much better on smaller devices, where on my nexus 7 homescreen clocks look a bit awkward and out of place.

Mix and match with good icons, and this is good enough for 99.999% of anyone who'd want to rice android. Zooper plays nicer with older androids, and in general has more stuff to play with due to being around forever, but the interface is clunky and a lot of things that really shouldn't be locked behind a paywall are.
Just choose one, find some open-source fonts, and fuck around, see what happens.

The most customizable thing on the planet, simply because your actual "launcher" with it is just a hyper-interactive wallpaper, while still being great on battery. Once you get it working, though, you can pull off shit like the webm related, it's pretty wild
