based QNX is based, although blackberry fucking dropped active BB10 development. i was going to continue buying BB phones but i am a normie and whatsapp is planning to drop support for BB10 so i had to switch to the botnet.
>>
>>53485781
He probably just learned that word and now tries to impress random internet people with his knowledge.

there is absolutely nothing wrong... op is a fag, as always.

Micro kernels are a fucking joke.
Kill yourself.
>>
>>53485619
Install FreeBSD.
>>
>>53486210
The fuck? So there's no reason to buy BB now?

https://blog.whatsapp.com/10000617/WhatsApp-support-for-mobile-devices

people say there's whatsapp in the amazon appstore that comes with bb10 but android runtime in BB10 is not perfect.

well there's Priv with android, and the new bb device will be android too. even bb doesn't care much about bb10 except their enterprise/government clients.

> high latency
This is only feature of monolithic kernel.
>>
>>53489380
lol even ast would call you a retard for thinking that
>>

Why dont explain to me the difference between a mono, hybrid and a microkernel OP, and since you're so keen on the subject, explain for me how one schedules each one efficiently
>>
>>53486210
Just sideload the apk instead then

inb4 some idiot claim his graphic card automatic recovery thanks to microkernel

I like the idea of splitting off drivers into userspace for reliability and to avoid restrictive licensing but there's not really a reason to split everything else off from what I can see. It's mostly just pointless wanking.

Pick one.

You're forgot about Hard Real-time.

Seriously?

Hot-swap/Reset feature in PCIE have nothing to do with micro or monolithic kernel.
In case of Linux, hot-swap works but X11 won't support such feature.
tl;dr: it's userspace problem.
>>
>>53490723
Stop xorg-server.
Start xorg-server.
Problem is solved.
Except you're one of retard who using display manager.
Anyway I prefer someone refactored Xorg instead of Wayland/MIR-shit.
>>
>>53490804
But you'll end up with fresh session.

What X11 should do when it detect card fail is to continue rendering in RAM, wait till GPU is ready, then copy back to screen output.
Anyway, X11 is already a dinosaur so maybe we should just wait for wayland.

>Anyway, X11 is already a dinosaur

Fuck it.
>>

>Anyway I prefer someone refactored Xorg instead of Wayland/MIR-shit.
Wayland is basically all the useful components of X and nothing else. It's not a refactoring exactly but it's probably equivalent to what X would be like if it was stripped of the garbage. Mir will probably just turn into X and then get abandoned by canonical because it's redundant anyway.

Wayland made of garbage and lags.
How much do you think years it took to make Wayland usable?
10?20?30? Never?
It's dead "paper technology" made without orientation on modern hardware and configuration.

Wayland has only been public for like 4 years and it hasn't been stable for all of that. Intel and open radeon/amdgpu support it, GNOME3 has a nearly complete port to it, KDE5 is in the middle of porting, MATE and cinnamon will probably get a port sometime after GNOME3. Nvidia support is completely up to Nvidia so don't try to hold that against wayland.

When I get tired, I forget about English grammar.

There are already tiling compositors if you're a ricerfag what else do you want?
>>
>>53492229
I want only 40000+ X-only programs.
>>
>>53492283
You can run X applications through Xwayland and avoid the security issues associated with running them through X directly, with a very minor decrease in performance. More applications will move to wayland when the popular DEs switch.
>>
>>53492347
... and you suggest me to use compatible layer without fully Xorg feature support and even more slow.
>>
>>53492691
It's an X server running as a wayland client so you can run X applications with no modification. The only thing it can't run are things like WMs and compositors that expect the X server to be near the top of the graphical stack.
>>
>>53487830
But WhatsApp is still useable with the android runtime yes? It's not like the native app will be immediately unavailable though? I really like physical keyboards and that screen ratio
