>>53469175
I use OSX, but only hardware.
It's called a "hackintosh" and it's the only way to fly.
Getting a macbook for designing. Wait for 2016 models or buy 2015/2014?

Go to sleep now or i'll lock you in the basement with uncle Tom again!
Hardware:
>Average keyboard
>Glossy screen unusable in daylight
>Okay trackpad, gesture detection kind of shit
>Worst power adapter ever
>idgaf about size
Software:
>Literally the buggiest shit i've used since linux+GNOME. Had to reboot ten minutes ago because it froze on the lock screen. It likes to continue running when the lid is closed and only suspend when it reaches the five minute mark i've configured. If the lid is opened, it instantly sleeps.
>"No, you can't do that" interface needs third party programs to be made sane for sane people
>libraries bundled with fucking xcode, case insensitive (but preserving, WHY?) filesystem, outdated shit. even solaris has newer.
>Unofficial X11 support, enjoy macports if you want to install most X11 shit (no, homebrew isn't good for this, homebrew isn't good for anything, user-writable executable dirs are a security risk)
>>53469354
This is so autistic it hurt to read. Homebrew is 100% based, kid. Go back to your toy OS.

>What's your excuse for not using a Macbook Pro, /g/?
Ridiculously overpriced and fucking shitty OS.

Dunno, the newer Asus trackpads I've tried felt a bit smoother plus the click is nicer than the new forcetouch whatever Apple has
can't afford one :S
>>53469175
>no trackpoint
>worse than new thinkpads keyboard
>1440x900 screen real estate

The Egyptian river again, eh?
>>53471181
A good first attempt at a copy.
the one thing macs do NOT have is backward compatibility.
also, the finder is objectively garbage. even linux has better file management, and both dont touch windows explorer (deal with it).
>>53469550
Really? Since I got used to the ForceTouchâ„¢ trackpad I can't go back to anything else. Even older macbook's trackpads feel weird.
>>53474083
What's so great about it? Feels a bit stiff and has less feedback than older models
>>53474148
I'm coming from an Asus and I still believe they make the most reliable laptops on the market.
I don't find the trackpad stiff especially when you click on the top parts of it, also you can change the strength of the feedback. That's what I like the most actually.
Considering the smoothness, two months ago I was eyeing an Asus and when I tried the trackpad I was literally disgusted, you could really feel a delay between actions and what happens on the screen. This singlehandedly made me consider a mac and I am not disappointed at all (talking only about the trackpad here). I'm actually baffle it took everyone this long to catch up.
