OEMs are still free to choose their own stock apps, Google only enforces that some Google apps must be pre-installed if you want to use Play services.
AOSP still includes some simple browser that's not Chromium (Chrome wouldn't be possible because it's not open-source).

Yes,surprisingly good.Will put even Chrome to the shame.However,they are rarely maintained because Google is becoming more porky day by day and may have lots of security threats.I heard CM currently tries to maintain the AOSP browser.
