i know everyone cries "gimp" when it comes to the 700 series vs the 900 series but i get the feeling that nvidia was able to get these kind of performance gains through optimization of hardware with the software. dynamic parallelism might even play a part.

No, the fact that the 780 Ti used is clocked higher than the Titan is the "problem" dumbass. The Gigabyte model they tested has a 1020MHz base clock vs the Titan's 837MHz and VRAM is irrelevant in a game like Project Cars.

$170... I sold my old 680 for 175 €, you can almost buy a new 960 (Same performance less consumption) for that price. 6XX cards are shit nowadays, most games begin to struggle with the 2 GB VRAM most of these cards have, AMD did better with their 3 GB 7970.
