Would it be worth it to go from 24" 1080 5ms 60hz to a 29" 1080 21:9 5ms 60hz or should I continue to save money for something worth a shit?

>For playing video games
>>
OR for the same price would it be better to upgrade to a 25" 1440 4ms 60hz
>>
>>53355432
buy something worth a shit. 1440p is the absolute sweet spot for gaming and not requiring a shit ton of GPU power. You can get a good 1440p for around $300 now.

Ultra-wide a shit because very few games scale properly with it.
>>
>>53355451
>game doesn't work well with 21:9
>just use a 16:9 resolution and don't stretch

not great but it's not game breaking.

Do get 1440p though. I know a guy who has a 30" 1080p 21:9, the pixels are fucking huge and ugly.

response time is just marketing wank, they always measure gray to gray so it's a pointless metric. Don't pay extra to get lower ms. (*actual* response time is important but good luck finding that information).

>>53355560
>1440p is bad
>comparing it to a 30" 1080p monitor?

Anything over 24" 1080p looks like shit for PC monitor. I personally have a 32" 2560x1440 and it looks amazing.

I stand by what I said. 1440p is the best sweet spot in terms of resolution and GPU hardware required to push that many pixels.
>>
>>53355587
You mis read, I didn't say 1440p is bad.

I fully agree that anything over 24" is shit at 1080p.
>>
>>53355451
>very few games scale properly with it

Says the person to poor to get a 34" ultrawide.

U3415W bro here, the ONLY games I have issues with are bethesda games, aka Skyrim, Fallout 3 & 4.

Every single game I've played supports 3440x1440. Don't comment on shit you know nothing about you child.
>>
>>53355560
>getting a 21:9 screen
>playing games in 16:9 non-stretch
then wtf is the point
>>
>>53355605
Can an EVGA 970 FTW run games in 60 fps on a 34" ultra wide 1440?
>>
>>53355623
Fuck no. It can barely do 2560x1440 without struggling. Due to the 3.5 gate, it is permanently a 1080p card
>>
>>53355560
shit never mind. I >>53355587 read that wrong. You're saying to Yes buy a 1440p.

>>53355605
>Person has different opinion of what is a "good" monitor. They must be poor!
I can buy a stupidly priced $5k panel right now If I wanted. With all the bells and whistles that I would never use/properly appreciate because I'm not doing professional work.
>Child
C'mon now. You have to have better insults than that in your repertoire. And I was talking the ultra-wide 2560x1080 monitors when they first came out. Not 3440x1440.I remember Skyrim and COD Blops 2 had a problem with those.
>>
>>53355605
This. I have an LG34 ultrawide. Its true that Bethesda games are the only games with issues. Rocket league is fucking glorious on 3440x1440
>>
>>53355451
>and not requiring a shit ton of GPU power
I dunno, I've been looking at benchmark videos and it seems like games that run at 60FPS on something like the R9 390 will only pull ~30FPS @ 1440p.
>>
>>53355673
>mentions he could afford stuff
>shows nothing

C'mon senpai
>>
>>53355657
if you think an extra 500mb turns a 1080 card into a 1440 card you are a genuine fucking idiot
>>
>>53355690
Depends on the game as well as how much AA you're using. With higher pixel count of 1440p compared to 1080p, I usually turn AA down to x4 or x2 even depending on titles. With a single 390 I was getting 45-60fps in 90% of titles.

Granted I have a 980ti classy now so I just ramp it all to max because I can.
>>53355694
>having to prove myself to anons on a digital moon rune tapestry sharing location.

Yea. Na. All I will say is my 32" 1440p Samsung panel was $800 when it came out. I got it for $600. I like it. You can keep your ultra-wide and let's agree to disagree.
>>
>>53355718
suck more nvidia dick will you
>>
>>53355718
Its not the 500mb, it is the % that fucks the card
>>
I have a small 29"ultrawide monitor at 2560x1080.

Newer games work right off the bat, and the extra fov is pretty comfy, but some games need driver fixes and extra workarounds which are a pain in the ass.

The novelty wears off after a while. You'll be happier with a 1440 16:9 monitor.
>>
>>53355750
i have a gtx 470, dont talk to me like some meme spouting tool you fucking faggot
>>
>>53355805
>like some meme spouting tool
>Owns a GTX 470
someone got cucked
>>
>>53355805
Haaaaaaaa 470. Kill yourself
>>
>>53355615
for the games you *can* play in 21:9 dingus

I have 144hz monitor, can't get 144hz in all games tho, doesn't mean it's not worth it. (gsync helps though)
