That 980 is going to eat that PSU familia. Idling you'll be okay, but vidya, stressing it is going to cook it.

Better order something 700+w with a decent amount of amps on the 12v rail(s)

i think this is bullshit, overall im sure that 600w should be more than enough and 550w are already pretty much enough

Don't listen to this guy. I've seen people run stuff more power hungry than an i5 and 980 on a really quality 450w. Super Flower is a great brand. That PSU should do you fine.

Although you could probably get your hands on a cheaper bronze cert PSU for like $30 less. Maybe get some non cheap shit RAM.

Oh and PC-Mate stuff is like bargain bin tier. Don't expect any overclocking miracles from it. My personal opinion.
>>
>>53338544
Nah dude, 550w will be fine as long as it's gold. The 980 really doesn't use that much. If it were a 390 or something I would be saying the same thing. He'd be safe with a 550w Gold.
>>
>>53338611
>>53338612
That guy who made me to worry about this told me already that i cant overclock but since im a standard /v/irgin i dont think i will touch overclocking soon.

He wrote me that some bullshit with the power adapter will kill my harddrive. Not sure now if i should be bothered and call the support and ask if they can switch parts. Maybe i should so i wont panic later if its get really fucked.
Otherwise im fine with this pc. I just want a pc that can run everything in the next 3 - 5 years.
Also im sure that i have to get better RAM in the next 1 - 2 years since 8gb is turning into standard for most games
>>
>>53338593
Holy fuck.. The thermal paste is more important than the card or drives at this point.

Get paste or your cpu is gone, you can keep the seagates if you want but they have an extremely high fail rate to the point they have multiple class action lawsuits against them from people To companies to government offices.
Please tell me you have Case fans and Windows 7

Not the way I'd have gone, but should be fine. Also, don't listen to >>53338544, a 550W will run a stock 980 just fine.

Take into consideration that an Alienware X51 R2 (i7 4700/16GB/500GB SSD) will run a GTX980 on a 330W power supply without issues.

I love this me me because I get cheap hard drives.

Seagate fixed their quality control years ago. It's not an issue anymore.
>>
>>53338745
OP bought an overclocking cpu, oc board, and cooler. Sure the machine will tun fine at stock settings but you won't have enough power to oc much.
>>

This. I have 2 seagate 1TB drives that have been in active use for a while now. No errors, bad sectors or otherwise problems.

I can't read schnitzel but if the case comes with fans you'll be fine, you want to stay away from seagates and for your psu you should have hottie an extra 100-150 watts, otherwise you'll have to worry about upgrade headroom for when you overclock and new cards.

This isn't something you rush into, you really should research this stuff.

>Seagate meme again
OK.

>need more wattage for new cards
PC hardware is only going to get more power efficient from here. I doubt anyone will need more than 500w for a single GPU system ever again. Mobile is the future and everyone is trying to pack as much power into a small package as they possibly can. HBM and the resulting Fury Nano should be evidence enough for anyone.
>>
Okay case comes with one fan.
I will keep with
>Buy thermal paste
>Change 550w to 600w

would be something like this good?

>>
>>53338917
yes
>>
>>53338797
Sure there is.

Calculator shows that:
VCORE 1.4V
Speed of 4500MHz

and GPU:
Core clock 1205MHz
Overvolt 3%
Memory clock 2005MHz

Does fine with a 460W PS, provided sufficient 12V (33A in this case)
>>
>>53338917
Perfect, you should be set now, when you get the parts be careful to follow proper build procedure and discharge static and go slow. I cant stress this as you seem like the mr speedster type.
Also read up on the post routine to familiarize yourself with it
>>
>>53338917
NO NO NO. You're trading out a 550w gold cert top tier PSU for a garbage bottom of the barrel "600w" from the CX line, Corsairs most garbage brand on the market.

1TB seagate drives are fine. If you really want to you can return it for a WD one, but I personally own 2 Seagate 1TB 7200rpm drives that have been in constant active use with TBs written to them repeatedly as work space drives without a SINGLE issue. The WD Blue 1TB I have is also good but A LOT more noisy than the seagates when in use.

Stop second guessing yourself. As for thermal paste, the brand I've been using since I started building is IC diamond. Shit is almost like fucking soft plastic, but it works very very well.
>>
>>53338370
Skylake is stupidly broken. Go with last gen intel, or AMD's high end shit.

Some otherguy just wrote me that my 550w gold will somehow kill my harddrive over the time.
The main reason why i was paniced that i fucked this build that much up.

So at the end i just need a thermal paste and im fine with this build?
So i was in panic for nothing again?

Oh shit I didn't notice the bronze rating, yeah change that, get a 600w gold rating, the brand is fine I haven't used his paste but I use http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835887010

Use the "dot" method when applying spreading can leave bubbles
>>
>>53338927
Eh fine.
>>53338917
I thought most cpu's and/or heatsinks include thermal paste. Does yours not? Sure it wouldn't hurt to have extra on hand but...
>>
Useless 980.
Everything else is fine.
>>
>>53339023
thermal paste and you're gtg. I have no idea what the fuck this "guy" you talked to is going on about but look at this. This list is from Feb 2015.

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

Notice how the brand of PSU you have is in Tier 1 while the "better" 600w you picked is all the way in Tier 5? There are leagues of differences between the 2.

Seagate 1TB - 2TB drives are completely fine.

As for Skylake being shit or "plagued with problems" I cannot say as I have Devil's Canyon. My 4690k is great. As far as I know, the only problems Skylake is experiencing is when running Prime95, the PC is crashing when calculating prime numbers after extended testing.

And some idiot used a powered screw gun to attach a cooler to the 6700k and he bent the silicon portion of the CPU.

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT buy a CX series from Corsair. I personally had a 430w one go belly up after only being in maybe 25% load for 2 weeks. When it died it took the motherboard with it in my Office machine.
>>
>>53339056
They do usually include thermal paste but it is garbage 90% of the time. Cooler Master includes some of their own with their coolers but it is runny and the temp difference from good paste (AS5, IC Diamond) is sometimes as high as 5C.
>>
>2016 new Desktop PC. Not buying at least 16GB RAM

Hey consumer tard... you forgot your RAM.
>>
>>53338370
You wasted money on that 980, but the rest is fine
>>
>>53339023
If you don't care about botnets get the skylake, get a gold 600w tier 1 psu that guy was stupid as that doesn't happen but you can only benefit from a higher watt psu, if you don't care about hdd lifespan keep the Seagate, otherwise switch to hgst, if you want to have a usable CPU get thermal paste.

>stay away from cx series
>stay away from Windows 10
>use uBlock origin
>use malware bytes

And do some research
>>
>>53338917
The Seagate meme is from a batch of hard drives that Backblaze bought for their data centre knowing fully that they would fail. Seagate publicly stated that the drives had problems and Backblaze probably bought them at a deep discount. Backblaze intentionally buys shitty drives because they've calculated that it's more cost effective for them to just replace the drives more often rather than pay for premium server drives.

For some reason, an analyst at Backblaze posted the failure rates of their drives, of which the overwhelming majority were Seagate, without adequately explaining that the failure rates were exactly what they expected.

Meanwhile, the Seagate drives that were not from the bad batch had failure rates that were actually LOWER than WD.

All you need to do is make sure the MODEL, not BRAND, of drive you choose to buy has no issues. This is the same for SSDs-- I see so many idiots whose brand loyalty led them to buy shitty drives because they didn't check if the model they were buying was any good.

Get a 390x. As strong as the 980 in DX11, way stronger in DX12 and 8GB VRAM.

The nano is also a great choice. Stronger than the 980 and also has way better DX12 performance.

The 980 wont last you long.

Okay this is enough. I will just change the adapter and dont listen to anyone else anymore. Since i read that it is fine, i should be fine.
>>
>>53339195
I try to advocate for amd when recommending parts but the 980 is absolutely fine. The nano is specialized for small form factor cases. The dx12 thing isn't quite ready to be a debatable factor just yet. Maybe a full year from now, but otherwise no.
750ti > 950 > 380 > 390 > 980 > 980ti
My subjective power / performance list.
>>
>>53339249
The problem with the 980 is that it offers the same performance as the 390x, while being 100€ more expensive.

The nano is a great price/performance choice since the price drop to 500€.

And the lack of async compute will make current nvidia cards obsolete way sooner than AMD cards.

Sure, cause 45.8 amps don't enough.
