OP I bought a 280x a few months ago for the low low price of 150€
I have to say it's pretty unimpressive. And that fucking game in particular, that shoddy piece of shit that got reviews as if it were any better than Unity, that does run quite like crap on that 280x. No way of achieving 60fps no matter how low your settings or resolution are.
It's... a pretty ok GPU but really I can't confirm what you're saying because it doesn't handle current games -perfectly-, far from it.
Hell FO4 as well, though I suspect that game just likes to drop frames at really random places no matter the hardware.

Bought a second hand 290x for 240 euro bucks 6 months ago. 390x comes out, it's the same card with a 12% over clock and a 385 euro price point. Oh and an extra 4gb of vram that's never going to be used. It's fine. I'll upgrade when the new cards come out and I'll prob sell it for nearly as much as I paid. VR can't get here fast enough
