Can't really tell but CDE is lovely. Although making your own from the ground up is the best choice.

Honestly yeah, cde is pretty nice, but I think the dock in windowmaker works a little better sometimes.

Also cde is a pain in the ass to build

I find plasma 5 gorgeous, but fucking logind hard dependency. I know there are ways around it in theory but it pisses me off.
>>
>>53253135
I actually do think it's very pretty, just kinda a weird workflow to get used to

Too bad the Arch wiki generally recommends against using it. :/
>>
>>53252839
kde is gud
I'm also recently taken to like cinnamon, it takes up less RAM than kde and it uses a more traditional interface than gnome 3. It's the best of both worlds
>>
I love the sinple and easy appearance of cinnamon. But after the whole back doored ISO incident that yhe Mint team had, I refuse to touch anything made/suppprted by them.

I was a long time lover on Mint cinnamon since Mint 14. Now I use Ubuntu MATE 15.10 and can say I Dont see myself switching anytime soon.

I hate everything that isn't XFCE.

Plasma is pretty as hell though, if only it wasn't shite.

KDE 3 kek

>>53254037
Isn't mate also primarily developed by the mint team?
>>
>>53253489
Numix gives xfce a nice appearance
I pretty much only use numix or greybird on xfce
>>
>>53254165
Same here. Wish there were a few other nice themes for xfce.

Is it? I wouldn't know off hand. Just mentally I think this. Unity is to Ubuntu as Cinnamon is to Mint.

The Mint ISO was compromised so by extension in my mind, the most common DE is too until said otherwise. If the Ubuntu ISO from the main site was reported to be backdoored, I'd also avoid Unity if I were a user of it.

I'll wait a little longer before considering Cinnamon. The main reason for the switch was proper security patches and current kernel of 15.10 compared to Mints using an outdated kernel (with god obly knows what vulnerabilities) and being based on 14.04.

I'm not a complete linux noob, but does DE rely on kernel extenaively? Since Mint uses and older one than 15.10, would Cinnamon DE have any problems running on Ubuntu 15.10?

only problem is the window icons are off centered (see how the top edge of the circle is closer to the top than the left edge is to the left)
this triggers me
>>
>>53253498
Did you lock that back window?
>>
>>53252839
falafel.
>>
>>53254354
I don't use numix icons, only the window theme
for icons I prefer faenza or some variant
>>
>>53252839
Gnome 3 to me is prettiest ootb. With some customization, I've seen xfce look really good though.
