Heh, I just noticed this shit is available in my area now.

I already know that shit is stupid for me but still interesting to see it offered here, in a pretty poor area (the average annual income is around 50-60k).

sadly they are the only viable option here, with att only going up to 75 down for $75 a month
crapcast has 150 down for $50 a month

the only other options are 20 down from some local place that can't give more than 10 down of the 20 they offer for $40 a month, or sonic 50 down for $70 a month which is just rebranded att

Consider the following:
biggest IX in Broland sees around 350Gbps traffic.
How can a single local provider offer 1Gbps fiber? They can't, of course you'll get 1Gbps to his edge router (maybe), but nowhere else.

Welcome to the san francisco bay area where a simple 2 bed and 1 bath apartment runs you 2000 to 2500 a month anything under 60k a year is basically low income if you have a family of 4 people or more which pretty much everyone here does.

I wouldn't even be making a thread if I didn't live in california, mostly because this service only comes to more expensive areas which is pretty fucking weird toe for it to come here.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Household_income_in_the_United_States
he Census Bureau estimated real median household income at $53,657 for 2014 and $54,462 in 2013. Household income varies by race, with Asians the highest in 2014 at over $74,000 and African Americans the lowest around $35,000.[2]

Here's the thing about median income: it doesn't mean that much when we're talking about a city or even a state.

OP could be right, 50-60k in California is pretty lame. However 50-60k in Idaho is living like a king.

My friend bought a house for $120k that has four bedrooms on a half acre lot with a lot of nice features (like a jacuzzi) and it's a pretty new construction in Ohio just a couple years back, whereas $120k where I live (DC/MD/VA) wouldn't even get me a shitty little condo.

SO yes, 50k might be "median" in the US, but it means a whole shitload of different things depending on which area you are talking about.
>>
>>53230882
Minimum wage here is $10 an hour but everything is so retardedly expensive you need at least $15 to live comfortably in a non shitty area as a single person and most families have at least 2 working people to support them with rents in my area being between 1800 and 2500 for a 2 bedroom 1 bath, sure you can find a place for under 1000 a month, but the bullet holes and being more likely to getting robbed don't really seem worth it to save that little money a month

Do the simple math there even at the cheapest a family of 4 will spend 21.6k a year just to put a roof over their head, now don't forget food is also stupid expensive thanks to our drought my family of 3 spends between 150-250 a week in food say around 9k a year in food that's already half of the 60k right there without getting in any kind of bills like phone/internet/gas/electric/insurance
Most people have 5-10k to spare at the end of the year which if they were smarter they would try to save but they don't they spend it on cars or other consumerism junk.
>>
>>53220208
>in a pretty poor area (the average annual income is around 50-60k)

What????

I live in rural Western NC and making 35k PER HOUSEHOLD is average income for the county and middle tier.

As a single male making ~42k year here I live like a king.

Might wanna rethink what you said...
>>
>>53231251
So a flyover state? that's cool if you look at the raw numbers past how much people make but how much shit costs in different places you wouldn't be living in a flyover state
>>
>>53231371
I wouldnt call a state in the top 10 (9th most populous) a "flyover" state.

As far as I can tell, Cali, Texas and NC make up the majority of posters.

Hell even LPG is from NC.

So how does this actually work? What hardware do they give you? Is it just a cable modem with a 10GbE copper port or something?
>>
>>53232231
honestly i don't blame you, we got enough dumb fucks living here already stay there

>>53232272
no you need enterprise fiber hardware, as in either a 10GbE fiber nic or a 10GbE fiber router, they will sell or rent you one but knowing kikecast your balls will be put in a vise if you agree to that
>>
>>53232330
Good to know. It's actually cheaper to buy an SFP+ NIC and fiber transceiver than it is to buy a 10Gbase copper NIC.
>>
>>53232272
>>53232330

Desktop PC with available PCIe expansion slot
1 10G PCIe network interface controller with SFP+ cage ($200-400)
1 10G enhanced small form factor pluggable SFP+ transceiver (850nm MMF) ($200-350)
1 MMF LC patch cable ($25-30)
