Sup /g/,

I just pre-ordered the Galaxy S7 with a skin (pic related). However I just found out Samsung doesn't implement the memory pooling feature introduced in marshmallow, so the sd card doesn't integrate with the internal memory of the phone. Is there any way to fix this? Maybe by altering the software a bit or creating an xposed module?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Use a stock marshmallow rom

Why? I just prefer ordered mine today as well and the gold looks sleek as fuck.

Are you gonna get the free vr or gear s2?

Hello MKBHD

Will take ages before an AOSP rom arrives thanks to the exynos 8890 processor

I'm not a nigger, I just hate the Samsung branding and I can really dig the bright red colors. Plus you won't see any black so it will be all out red. I think it fits the material Google style better than the pretentious carbon fiber skin only 12 year olds like

Then buy the North American version with the SD920

Exynos 8890 > SD820,
back on topic, anybody has a solution?
>>
>>53215279
Yeah I know, I personally would go for exynos even if it wasn't faster simply because of the Wolfson DAC. I was simply offering a solution.
>>
>>53215308
Ah okay, this solution isn't an option for me but thanks for the tip anyway

I would say touchjizz is enough of a turn off for everyone
Oh boy, do I like getting my apps killed in the background because the os eats all the ram
>>
>>53215401
Samsung is doing the right thing.
Android's implementation of adoptable storage sucks.
nubs would put the sdcard in their pc, which wouldn't recognize and suggest to format it.
then you lost all your data.
>>
>>53215486
Why would this happen
Modern OSs can read ext4
>>
>>53214914
>get one of the only android devices in industrial design
>put ugly skins on it to make it look like plastic shit
>>
>>53215515
As an industry design engineer I find the design is just a cheap copy of the iPhone but worse because the camera bump is three times as big
>>
>>53215486
Meh such features have a risk but companies should trust their consumers. They sell cars even though customers could potentionally drive them off a cliff. Same deal with knives, etc.
>>
>>53215508
not even linuxfags do use ext4 for portable storage because DAC makes it not portable.
>>
>>53215486
>>53215541
Also I don't see how this could happen but I know data can be corrupted when someone pulls the sd card out when the data is in use.
>>
>>53215566
Well isn't that news
Obviously the data becomes corrupt if it is in use and you just pull off the sd card
That's why there's a "unmount sd card" button

I'm talking about the variant with the 820 inside. Everything is the same except the processor, and Exynos gets little to no AOSP love because Samsung doesn't release kernel sources.

I wouldn't buy a Samsung because touchwiz is disgusting, but at least with the 820 you can get Vanilla Android if you're okay with voiding your warranty because of shitty Knox.
>>
>>53215788
>Best smartphone processor available
not to break your bubble but Apple is like 1-2 gens ahead of lagdroid.

>Exynos gets little to no AOSP love because Samsung doesn't release kernel sources.
Samsung does release the source:
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=sm-g92

obv some dev would still actually need to do the porting and can't just pick the right CAF branch and get AOSP for free like for Qualcomm.
>>
>>53215832
I don't consider iPhones smartphones having todays standards in mind considering functionality and durability
>>
>>53215884
Capable smartphones that is
>>
>>53215884
sure, apple is in its own class.
you can't get decent hardware AND software on android.

see touchwiz, which doesn't follow Material design guidelines; hacks some android system libs; is slow; is insecure and outdated (heavily delayed updates if any)

not through direct channels, so you will have no warranty.
you will likely not have LTE Band 20 on the US version - just going by the S6.
>>
Where the fuck is Marshmallow for the S6? Is it even out yet?
>>
>>53216139
i'd say Nexus 6P is the nearest you can get but then you are part of the beta-test for the latest buggy Android and it's still a thermal-throttled Snapdragon 810.

Marshmallow is still broken as fuck and just a little better than Lollipop. Google has a long way to go with Material design.
>>
>>53216349
What's broken about marshmallow exactly? Just curious
>>
>>53216339
like a week ago for some versions:
http://www.sammobile.com/2016/02/15/samsung-releases-android-6-0-marshmallow-for-the-galaxy-s6-and-the-galaxy-s6-edge-globally/

can't get it earlier or it would spoil the S7 launch event.

Stopped reading there.

Gs7 sucks, they have a gs7 demo at my best buy and it was just an s6 with better battery

Is the v10 hands down better than the S7 anyway?
Or is the S7 better then the v10?

>security & updates
if it isn't a nexus you are horrible insecure (see stagefright)
Samsung needs like 4 months to push an Android update
Samsung's added hacks even add more holes:
http://googleprojectzero.blogspot.com/2015/11/hack-galaxy-hunting-bugs-in-samsung.html

looks like there will never be a solution that can bypass OEMs & carriers
(blame linux kernel's shitty support for out-of-tree drivers that gets you devicetrees)
>responsiveness & latency
even a Nexus can get some random hiccups
Google promised that fixed in 4.1 (Project Butter)
Google declared Project Butter a failure later in 4.4 and declared Project Svelte the new solution
..
>battery life
wakelocks can still kill your battery. common culprit: google play services
even on Marshmallow with Doze on a Nexus 5:
