Really promising the first couple episodes. I was really into the character. Then they made their character less about software and more about mental problems because they were too lazy to continue to research.
Next season, expecting a couple of episodes dealing with his insanity, some good technology research early on, then nothing but meandering and shark jumping. Doesn't seem like they have much planned.

But it is stupid. It ruins the realism. GoT was all about medieval realism. Each character had two sides. There was supposed not to be black and white characters, but shades of grey. Stannis was an excellent example. I loved that character.
But I did hate Geoffrey, and not because he was evil, but that he was lazily written. He didn't had any reasons for his behavior. Historically, Evan the Terrible behaved like Goeffrey against boyars, however he did so because he was bullied and hated by boyars as a child, there was a reason. He grew up witnessing hate, neglect and violence. Geoffrey grew up normally, there was no logical reason for him to be so fucked up. It is just lazy writing.
Same in Mr. Robot:

Bolton was realistically brought up and developed as a character, his uprising and environment, family were cause of his hatred and sadism.
But for the Geoffrey, there simply was no logical reason. Also, Ramsey wasn't hateful and sadistic to all, but Geoffrey was.

I was more referring to the others in this thread, but like I said in the other half of my post, we're not seeing realism because we're viewing through Elliot's eyes. He sees black and white, good and evil, even though that's clearly not the case. It's obviously ridiculous that "Evilcorp" is evil, but that's how Elliot sees it, and so also Tyrell is going to be portrayed as evil as he was one of the head guys there.

A show with an interesting premise, and lots of potential, but has god awful, cringeworthy writing, and lack of actual technical insight. Not to mention the plot is a complete rip of fight club like the other anon said. it feels more like a parody of what it wants to be, if that make any sense. That being said I still think it's one of the best shows on television right now... Which is more of a testament to how terrible the state of tv is. I personally like "Halt and Catch Fire" better as tech related show.

This is almost unavoidable with shit writers. 90% of shows are full of tired tropes and if you watch enough TV, the shit gets stale quickly.
The protagonist is the best part of the show, but even his character is plagued with stupid memes you see everywhere. If you can suspend your disbelief for that, I think he makes a pretty decent representation of what a /g/ user is like. Anxiety, depression, awkwardness, even the way Rami speaks his lines with a sort of forced and monotone voice. He's still a chad of course, but so am I. Maybe that's why I have no animosity towards him or the show.

The thing is, when you read medieval history there really were a bunch of sadists in positions of power. Not everywhere, but here and there every once in a while. Geoffrey is one of the more realistic ones on the show, he's not drinking from skull goblets or anything, he's just stupid, likes hurting people, and can do it without consequences because he won the feudalism lottery.
