PNY Elite tier. KEK
>>
>any graphics card company
>good

t0p kek. They're all cheap as fuck Taiwanese disposable mini nuclear reactors. None of them are "elite" or even good. Getting a graphics card that lasts more than 3 years is like winning the lottery.

tl;dr graphics cards are failures waiting to happen, just buy mid-range and accept this fact

I've been with zotac for over a decade. Im going to stick with them thanks.

This. My 980 Ti blew up on me when playing a game. Temperatures were fine (65 degrees celcius) and my PSU is a high quality Seasonic. It just suddenly blew up. I took out the GPU and could smell it being burnt somewhere near the left side of the PCB, close to the GPU core/memory chips.

This. The 5000 series was awesome. Gave my friend my old 5770 when I built my current rig in 2012 and she's still running like a champ.

Move Zotac up. They make better non-reference cards than most people less expensively. MSI should stay where it is at. Never heard of matrox.

Using the same card since 1998. Works great. They don't make them like they used to.

Even Lester Crest has one.
>>
>>53136809
My last 4 video cards were all EVGA cards, and they're all still working fine. The first two were donated to family members and they're still working great. In fact the first was a single slot 8800GT.

The third one is still in my secondary PC, and the fourth one is in my main PC.

I don't know if I just have ridiculously good luck. But I am pretty anal about cleaning the dust from the HSF system. I know that OOTB, GPUs run ridiculously hot compared to a CPU so I do what I can to keep dust out of the heatsink. Now that fan filters are standard in most PC cases, it's even easier to keep the dust out although I do still get some dust.

>>53137672
And of 2 of my evga gtx 460 one was DOA and another died after barely a year of mild gayming.
Let's not stretch here, bloke.
>>
OP, I can agree with you that asus (for the most part) belongs at the top, but PNY should be swapped with Zotac as their GTX 900 cards are very well made. MSI should also be in the elite teir where they belong. You may need to move more brands into mid class section before you start another /g/ shit fire.
>>
>>53137630
>Never heard of matrox.
One of the oldest GPU makers, they almost exclusively make cards for business/productivity purposes. Back in the day if you wanted a big multi-monitor setup, they were the only ones who made it possible to use 3+ displays, and arguably made the best 2D cards in general.

3D cards could only render 3D graphics and had to be paired up with a 2D card for general use, so Matrox wasn't really in competition with them, and as a result fell behind as GPUs started being able to render both 2D and 3D.
Somehow they managed to survive by catering to their niche instead of competing against ATI and Nvidia.

It used to be for gaming, but those days are long behind us. Their last attempt at regaining a foothold was... less than stellar... to be kind (pic related, the Matrox Parhelia)

literally who are you quoting
>>

>Asus
CHINK SHILL CONFIRMED GET FUCKED
>>
>>53137769

You've got this wrong. In the late 90's Matrox made competitive products, to the point where their G200 was better than Nvidia's offering at the time (Riva 128). Their problem was that after the G400/450 they kind of lost their momentum. They tried to regain relevance with the Parhelia but it took too long to come to market after the G450 and by then 3Dfx, S3, and PowerVR were gone leaving only Nvidia and ATi. In a crowded field, Matrox would ave probably done better but with only two real competitors they just couldn't do it.
>>
>>53135388

>/v/

You skewed the fuck out of your data, everyone knows the only top tier brands are ASUS, Sapphire and Gigabyte.

First of all, Zotac, which you put in the piece of shit category, owns XFX, which you put in good tier. They also own Sapphire.

Second of all, the same applies to Gainward in the shit category, except this time with PNY in the elite tier. Gainward cards are PNY cards.

Here's a true tier list:

>God
EVGA
MSI
Gigabyte

>Good
Asus

>Okay
Everything else

>Avoid at all costs
Sapphire
>>
>>53140777
Isn't sapphire supposed to make the best
>290
>290x
>390
>390x
though?
>>
>>53140869
In my experience, Gigabyte also has the worst 290. I wouldn't pay much attention to those rankings. Rather just go for whichever maker has the better cooler.
>>
>>53140869
They have have an awful restrictive warranty that prohibits you from removing the heatsink. They also outsource their warranty program to third parties where you are at the mercy of the repair guy. If your card is a little bit disgusting he has the power to reject your warranty and not suffer any backlash.
>>
>>53140950
does AMD have a go to company with great warranty's like EVGA and Nvidia
>>
>>53141029

XFX had great warranty before, dunno now

Yea the powercolor cards are extremely under rated. Their pcs+ model usually goes toe to toe if not beats sapphire tri-x and vapor-x.

Zptac cards are top tier too. Their amp! Line is usually right up there with evga classified and msi lightning stuff

>xfx being god tier

Lol no. Their r9 290s and 390s are sub-par at best with little to no sufficient cooling on a vital component. (vrm1)

This list of good brands etc was made by people who voted more based on looks than performance or actual knowledge of anything.
>>
>>53141029
MSI, Gigabyte, or reluctantly Asus. Then narrow down to whoever makes the best.

MSI support generally is extremely generous for some reason and doesn't seem to care if they are costing the company money. Asus cards are made by machines now so it might be more reliable than the traditional human assembly line ones. But their warranty is pretty shit if it goes wrong.

Powercolor. I had to r9 290s from them. Their pcs+ models. One of them had a ram module that was faulty. Contacted them when it happened and got a swift email response in like 4 hours after contacting them. Boxed it up, sent it out paying nothing more than $15 in shipping and insurance. They sent me an r9 390 pcs+ as replacement.

When the 290s forst came out, they were plagued by BIOS incompatibility that had droves of people rma-ing their cards. I contacted powercolor and they sent me an updated BIOS with instructions and I was up and running in less than 2 days since the problem even showed itself.

>plus they make crazy shit like pic related. Triple slot dual fully unlocked f9 290X gpus on a single board. Ppwered by 4x8 pins.
