Why don't more people use Pinta for image editing on GNU/Linux?

I'ts fucking perfect.

>current year
>using GIMPed
>>
Will try when i get home
>>
>>53063678
Wine + photoshop is the best one
>>
Why not just use Photoshop?
>>
>>53063678
Pinta is the most buggy and unfinished software I've tried in GNU+Linux, or has it been updated a lot recently?
>>
Pinta's file format support is a fucking joek
>>
>>53064079
Maybe because it's too expensive?
>>
Has anyone here tried Inkscape?
>>
>>53066254
I use it to make diagrams and schemes. It´s vector images tho, so, a different kind of beast than gimp which is for raster graphics.
Not sure about Pinta, but since OP claimed is an alternative to gimp, I assume it is raster as well.
>>
>>53063678
Was pretty happy when I found Pinta as I used to love Paint.net on windows.
But it's actually a pretty shitty port. And having to install mono on my machine pains me
I'll keep using Gimp.
>>
>>53066254
I like inkscape, it's very functional.
>>
>>53066510

>Inkscape
>functional

It's so buggy it's unusable.
>>
>>53066254
I use Inkscape to draw
>>
>>53066694
How do you like it?
>>
Pixelmator for OS X is miles ahead all other Photoshop ">alternatives".

Paint.NET and PhotoFiltre on Windows are good, but all Linux image editing software I tried was garbo.
>>
Jesus fucking Christ Photoshop is the gold standard.

If you use GNU+Linux and don't have anything to do with programming just put a bullet in your brain ASAP. You are a living, breathing meme.
>>
>>53067087
>using linux to edit images

top kek this is like using a scalpel to cut tomatoes
>>
>>53067087
I loath the fact that Paint.NET is not available on Linux, it's such a great piece of software
>>
>>53067127
What if you're a non-programmer who uses something like Trisquel or Debian for privacy reasons?
>>
>>53067127
why would a non-graphic artist use photoshop?
>>
>>53067199
>using linux for privacy reasons

Thats even worse. Let me lay down some facts for you.

>Linux is retarded
>The government doesnt give a fuck about your loli collection
>Thinking linux is more private than windows is borderline autistic behavior
>>
>>53067199
Why do you care what some faggot stranger on the internet thinks? If Debian or Trisquel works for you then use it.
>>
Doesn't even open slightly bigger files on my machine. Select tool has this weird lag to it on an i5.
In other words, because it's shit.
>>
>>53063678
>Good GNU/Linux software
Nice oxymoron
>>
>>53067221
Because the design and functionality of every FOSS solution is god-awful. Mostly because programmers can't design a decent user interface to save their life.
>>
>>53067127
you can easily have it on loonix, you're just too stupid
>>

gimp is to photoshop as pinta is to mspaint.

Pinta.
>>
The only piece of open source software I have ever used that I liked is Krita.
And it's really more of a digital painting program than a Photoshop clone.

Retards.

Yeah it works perfectly, go to WineHQ and get the winetricks install list and you're set.
>>
>>53068109
enjoy buying a new cpu every 2-3 years. My i7 has been running OCd since 2009 , still handles like a dream.

Why anyone would buy anything under the i7 is beyond me.
>>
>>53068223
Thanks.
>>
>>53068224
if you enjoy shelling out cash, okay. but implying i5 is too slow for a fucking vector/raster editor makes zero sense desu senpai
>>
>>53068340
Just sell that garbage and buy amd if youre too poor. the fx8350 outperforms your i5 in every way and is cheaper so if ur scared about temps just buy a water cooler you faggot.
>>
I'm new to GNU/Linux. Generally, how do you go about searching for good software? What website repositories exist that list the best software? Is anyone able to share an infograph?

It's quite good, but has a hefty price tag.

It is though.

>Linux/distro_name
You have:
>IPTABLES
>Rules
>SElinux/apt-armour
>Firewall
>File permissions
>User and process permissions
>You have partition complexity where as a remote user cannot scan a remote disk if the file permission do not match up to remote execution bit.

You have:
>Firewall
>UAC
wow...
>>
>>53076005

>tcp wrappers.
>>
>>53075934
I haven't messed with it much since it's mostly used for UI design, but I've also heard nice things
>>
>>53076038
Ah, true true.
>>
>>53067247
Well linux/distro sure had a lot of shit in the way of people trying to find your private data.

Windows is a fucking joke. You can find some way to bypass file permissions while not being admin.

It is like your trolling level degraded to being a thing retarded people say.

okay /g/ I'm on OSX and don't wanna waste 12 GB of my SSD with Photoshop
what do I pick
should I help port Paint.NET to OSX now that .NET framework is getting open sourced?

Honestly I do not enjoy using gimp; but why hate on the only decent image editor for Linux? Hating gimp isn't going to make alternatives appear out of thin air. I use paint.net for most of my editing.

"perfectly" is not the right word. it works but is glitchy.

At some point I just looked up how to do the things I do with GIMP and that's it. For me it's a glorified cropping tool.

Pinta and GIMP ave completely different use cases. Same with the retards that say "hurr Krita le better than GIMP"

Reminder on the upcoming list on GNU/Linux software. This is in protest of systemd deprecating software, pulseaudio sabotaging Linux sound, and in support of GPL.

Because it's buggy.
I loved Paint.Net, so I was expecting Pinta to be good replacement for it on Linux. Yet, it doesn't have many features I liked like rescaling selection and it's buggy.
I guess I will try to run Photoshop.
