Well, I live in the United Kingdom, which, as you all know, literally has the best mains plug and socket system in the world. I simply leave any device plugged in, but switch it off at the wall when not in use.
>>
I have one of these plugged in all the time.

But that's not IEC 60906-1.

I keep it unplugged because I don't care for potential fire hazards.

Pretty much this.

You see the difference when you're careful.

I could probably stop using AC entirely if I were willing to give up the tiny fridge and somebody gave me a solar panel plus battery.

>a kilowatt is 17 cents

It's like 2 euros per year, if you even manage to somehow "waste" a kilowatt of power per month. That's like a bottle of beer and a pack of nuts. Per year of saving. Prioritize, you nigger.

The UK government did an awareness campaign telling people to unplug their chargers when not in use, since it drains a tiny amount of power.

Of course, this is a country which has to take steps to mitigate massive power demand increases when certain TV programs end since everyone turns on their kettles.

Naaaahhhhh son.

I leave my sockets on all the time, if I put a plug in the wall, I want power.
>>
no cuz some of them hum and whine and some have an LED that I don't want on when I'm sleeping

I leave chargers plugged in. I only use branded chargers and cables (no generic Chinese shit), so there's no real fire hazard.

As for the moneysaving... I never understood people who subject themselves to inconvenience in order to save a few £ per year.

Even if it saved £20 a year, that would be £0.06 per day for the convenience of not having to faff about at the wall every time I plug in a device. And it isn't £20, it's generally more like £2.

So... c'mon. If you're in a bad financial situation, you need to either make significantly more money or cut your expenditure drastically. Simple as that. No point removing every tiny luxury from your life and then patting yourself on the back for saving a trivial amount.

I use an Amazon Basics Apple 30pin for my iPod.
It is by far, the best 30 pin cables I've had. And I've brought quite a few, and this one was about the cheapest.

I've never had issues with their HDMI, mini-B, or micro-B USB cables. I'm straight, though, so I've never bought a lightning cable. Maybe those were flawed?

this was the only time I've ever seen a wall plug fail.
