>five years into my CS degree
>just learned I'm 1 elective short of graduation
Can we have a suicide tech thread?
take a summer class
>>53037121
Nigga
Juan credit should be ez to get
>6 years into EE degree after switching schools
>senior year
>first soldering iron project / microcontroller programming
someone kill me
>>53037121
>5 years
Hope that was co-op bud.
will your school let you intern for credit
>>53037121
You can:
1. Take a half-semester class online
2. Take a class over the summer
3. Stay one last semester
4. Stop crying like a little bitch over something that isn't a big deal
Also, how did you not know that you needed that final credit before the semester started?
Not even that fucking bad OP. Ended up in community college for three years just to change my major to CompSci and then realize I have another 2-3 years of math to finish JUST TO TRANSFER.
Be thankful you're not me because I hate my fucking life.
>>53037176
>6 years into EE
>first soldering iron project / micro controller project
How's that degree mill treating ya buddy?
>>53037332
it is usual at least in my country too. not counting thesis time either, so it usually is 6 years
>>53037121
>in CS
>2.6 GPA
>Can't get internships because shitty grades
At least I'm making $10k every summer from unskilled labour.
But I'm fucked for after Uni. Hopefully I can bolster my resume with some personal projects and get a job. Or else I'll probably just kill myself.
>>53037176
The very first CS class that I took required soldering and micro controller programming in the lab section. I don't know what kind of retard school you're going to.
>>53037408
I know that feel. I'm just now finishing Calculus 3 and transferring next semester, after about 3 years at community college.
>>53037121
Do internships m8
>>53037176
how did you never touch a soldering iron or MCU after 6 years? At mine the MCU class (which is also the first time we solder CPUs) is in the 3rd year, and I always thought we were a little behind other universities in that.
>>53037408
>Ended up in community college for three years just to change my major to CompSci and then realize I have another 2-3 years of math to finish JUST TO TRANSFER.
are you positive you didn't misread something? what CC offers 2-3 years of math? let alone 5-6 years to transfer? are you tryna be a math technologist?
>>53037438
No matter where you want to go, academia or industry, the answer is always to do internships/related jobs/get experience somehow.
>There's an online walking class that counts towards electives at my uni
>You literally just tell the professor online how many minutes or distance of walking you did per week
Seriously it won't be that bad, find some piss easy class to do over the summer.
>>53037470
I know Land Surveying needs a shit-tonne of math background, maybe he's looking into something along those lines.
>>53037461
way too many theoretical / math courses
>>53037121
I graduated with a 4.0 in CS in 3 years. Feels good to not be a failure.
>>53037836
How is that codemonkey job going, mate?
This seems like a decent place to ask...
I don't know shit about shit and have no useful skills to speak of but I like the idea of doing some soul crushing computer job.
What should I major in?
>>53037890
Pretty good. Making 180k a year after bonuses + stock.
>>53037890
how's that no-job going, mate?
>>53037939
accounting
>>53037939
>I like the idea of doing some soul crushing computer job.
CS
>>53037836
wow so nice that you bumrushed your EZ degree with good grades. KEK
come back when you complete an actually hard degree like EE
>>53037959
But I am still in uni (good grades tho and not some bs like CS)
>>53037445
I temporarily transferred to a local community college to take some credits I didn't care about for about half the price so that I could work for a bit. I looked at some of their degree programs. They go over in four years what most decent universities in the US go over in the first fucking year.
I took one of the courses for the IT degree for fun to see how different it was from computer science back at my home institute. I took a class called "advanced programming" it was a 3.5 month tutorial on eclipse IDE. The assignments were easy as fuck people still managed to fuck them up.
My working theory on why people here bitch about CS programs and jack off to physics degree memes is that they went to a shit school and think that all CS programs are like that.
>>53037988
Why would I complete a hard degree when I can complete an easy degree and get an easier and higher paying job? Are you retarded or something?
>transferred school
>CS classes are full so just taking gen eds
>don't even have time to program on free time due to wagecuckoldry
JUST
>>53037121
Go part time or take graduate courses
>>53038069
>Why would I complete a hard degree
more prestigious&respectable. no one respects programmers
>higher paying jon
programmer salary: $50569
EE salary: $100671
CODEMONKEY ON SUICIDE WATCH
>>53039171
>programmer salary: $50569
See >>53037947
I mean, he's probably full of shit, since on the internet nobody knows he's actually a NEET.
>have a gpa somewhere around the 1s
>still don't know why they didn't kick me out yet
Wait this isn't r9k
>>53039171
lmfao 50k for a programmer if you life in kansas. Facebook pays their interns 11k+ a month
>>53038115
>CS classes are full so just taking gen eds
I know that feel my first year and a half was just taking Gen Eds. I can tell you it gets better as you take more classes and your class standing increases.
Going into first year EE next year... What am i in for lads?
>>53037121
>19 years old
>have an AA degree and a CS degree
of course in another two years thatll mean nothing
>>53039334
An extremely hard workload and lots of studying
If you aren't a hard worker you will get raped and probably drop your classes and change your major, if you are smart and a hard worker you are looking at an easy 90k starting if not more
>>53037176
dude what
In my freshman year of EE we did soldering labs and programmed pic related. What university are you attending?
>>53039444
Waterloo?
>>53039475
Weird. I guess your degree plan is just set up differently.
>>53039415
this so many times
Dedicate your semester to studying, and nothing more. Otherwise you'll get weeded out so hard your head will spin
>too retarded to go into engineering or programming
Should I just get a business degree? I can at least do calculus 1 and I'm pretty sure most MBAs stop at business calc
>>53039484
No, I was wondering if you went to Waterloo. We used these as our first-year project too.
>>53039510
Oh, no. I'm attending pic related
>>53039502
bls respond
>>53039334
It's allright.
Some fun stuff, some annoying stuff, but overall pretty good.
Remember to actually learn for exams, and always do your homework, and everything will be fine.
Adjusting to that will take some while though.
>>53039502
nope you need at least cal1,cal2,linear algebra, intro to micro and intro to maecro to get into business school
>>53039594
>business degree
>calc 2
>linear algebra
ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy lmao
>2nd year into CS degree
>started working on a project that revolved around building satellites with the government in freshman year
>already a semester ahead of classes
>just finished a fall semester internship with SpaceX
>will be interning at NASA JPL this summer
>now chief engineer of the satellite project, and i'm not even a mech or aero major
Step it the fuck up you fat, lazy fucks.
>>53037947
Kek literally every faggot on this site says that are CS graduates making stupid salaries right off the bat
>took 6 years to get a fucking CS bachelors
>went to probably like five lectures, shit grades
>repeated some classes
>at this stage i have more money and a better job than some overachiever friends i had
>possibly happier than them too
I don't know. All I did was actually turn up to all those conferences they email all the students about and did some stuff for no pay that I could put into a portfolio
>>53039502
If you think a business degree is the retard's way out, you're in for a world of hurt when you graduate.
I stupidly switched out of CS into finance after second year because I believed the codemonkey bullshit and I thought I was too dumb for engineering. Turns out I'm making the same as my old classmates while working twice as hard, constantly livong in fear of being fired because I cannot operate at the same level as my coworkers and burn out way easier. The world of business is fucking outrageously hard compared to anything IT-related.
>>53037176
Meanwhile you've been soldering and programming ATMELs at home the whole time, right?
... Right?
>>53037121
just do some language certificate, I did the TOEFL just to get my last missing credits.
>>53040137
home is for fapping and memes you fricken asslicker
>>53037121
>four years into CS degree
>just starting third year courses
Mind you, I was working full-time and just taking a few classes but still. I don't even want the degree anymore, I just want to finish it out of spite for not wanting to give my school free money.
>>53039171
>EE: salary: $100671
That's less than what I was making at my internship after my second year. Stay mad EEcuck.
>>53039360
Except CS is an AS you lying NEET
