AMD 400 series will probably hit first July ish like this anon said, then Pascal will be pushed out shortly after. (believe they're currently behind on terms of release) but best thing you could do is wait for both flagship models released to the public, price and performance fight will ensue. That and first adapters are great guinea pigs for real world reviews - ignoring the fan boys. I'd even say June for Polaris as computex is like 5th of June I believe. Launch 3-4 after the presentation is possible imo, or amd once again announces their lineup at the pc gaming show (already confirmed for this year's E3, though I don't think it is officially sponsored by amd yet)

This card will slap the unholy shit out of the GTX-TitanX and will be the go to card for a 4K Steam-Machine living room PC to kill your console once and for all.

Thats the raw skinny of AMD's new line-up To be perfectly honest the Polaris 12 is going to be so fucking powerful that unless you buy a 4K 120hz monitor you will have absolutely no use for something stronger and the market for GPU performance higher that maxed out settings at 4K, 60fps is so small that it makes no economic sense for AMD tobuild a bigger card.
eventually Newer 4K-120hz VR headsets will be made and by then AMD will build a bigger GPU in their 500-series but until then only Nvidia is retarded enough to build bigger than this.

Before i do pascale let me add corrections to previous post. The polaris 10 GPU is 2.5X more efficient than maxwell under optimal conditions but even sub optimum its over 2X. Polaris 11/12 will be 2X or less efficient because performance was more important.

There will only be two Pascale Chips that i know of. We will call them "Mid-range" and "Enthusiast". Each chip will have a Speed binned variant similar to the 970 being the binned 980 and the 980ti being the binned titanX
Contrary to what you might think Nvidia lost badly on this process change. Their pascale architecture is fundamentally more inefficient than Polaris. They will have the objectively "faster cards" but they will achieve this by making significantly larger GPU dies than AMD. This means they will have much lower yields from silicon wafers which means their manufacturing cost will be much higher. Also they will such more power and run hotter than a smaller more efficient GPU die. Thats right Nvidia will be the "housefire" brand this time around. "Mid-range" Pascale which will be the gtx1080/1070 will be faster than polaris 11 but remember they will achieve this by making a larger die so it ill be more expensive and not significantly fast enough to justify the higher cost.
"Enthusiast" pascale or the Titan-P and 1080ti will be the "fastest" GPU's in the world but they will be hideously expensive when you see the price tag on these cards compared to AMD's flagships your choice will be obvious especially since the AMD card will crush anything up to 4K, 60fps and if you buy a 120hz 4K monitor you might not even want the titan then and just buy two AMD cards to drive the panel

glad you asked. There could be a paired down pascale arch but in all likely hood your going to see Maxwell copy pasted into the new process. So good news is you will have 16nm gtx 980's and 960's but unfortunately the performance gains will be severely disappointing. Maxwell got its efficiency from exploiting known effects of the 28nm planar process. all the benefits of maxwell which were the result of fundamental architecture changes AT THE TRANSISTOR LEVEL on 28nm will go out the fucking window on 16nm FinFET. they will be faster than their 28nm maxwell version but it wont wow you at all and their TDP will be fucking horrendous compared to AMD's polaris 10/11 cards

Alright, look: amd launched the HD 7000series. At the time 7970 was the fastest gpu available, so they continue development and launched the Hawaii gpu about 1 year later which then again was the fastest gpu available, only beaten by the 780ti launched a few weeks after.
So when Polaris is released this summer the flagship gpu should be faster than everything available and in the meantime they continue development and present an even faster graphics card next year("Polaris 13" if you will). Development obviously never stops
