>>
>>52865218
10-20 USD are cheap to normal for decent USB chargers with 2 * 2A and support for a bunch of devices.

That said, there are $2 housefire electrocution chargers:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2015-NEW-Universal-5V-2A-Dual-2-port-USB-EU-Plug-Fast-Wall-Charger-For-iPhone/32254370604.html

They won't usually have quick charging protocols except sometimes for Apple and Samsung, so mostly you get 0.5A.

>>52865333
Arguably, that's also $10 - but yea, seems okay on a glance.

Getting more detailed reviews like on

If you want the best earbuds you should wait for the VE MONK to come back in stock. I think they are in stock but you can't buy it right now because of china holidays. You can usually send the guy an e-mail and he will send it to you.

Anyhow, maybe one reason against it is that Xiaomi had the idea to introduce boot loader unlock codes on newer phones, which you need to use before you can replace the boot loader or root on most of 'em.

Don't write them off yet that product just seems to be a bad egg. Their 12w 2.4amp dual port and 30w 6amp tri-port get stellar reviews and pass a lot of independent testing it seems. Notably the 30w. Goes for cheap as well off Amazon.

After looking into it more it looks like anything quickcharge certified causes problems across the board.

>Redmi Note 3
>Redmi Note Pro

ain't these two different models ? not to mention that they both have 3 sub-models
I was thinking of getting the x10 because i would only use it for reading, taking notes, shitposting.
And less performance could be considered an advantage when it comes to battery life. Also i would flash some slimmed down ROM on it. The other thing is that it doesn't support certain 4g/lte networks, but it would be used on wi-fi exclusively.
Thanks for the tip tho i'll have a look at those "unlock codes".
>>
>>52869626
I'm not sure the Helio X10 is at an advantage when both are stepped down (like happens when you just read).

One thing that might matter: The Redmi Note 3 Pro has a microSD slot again (Redmi Note 3 doesn't, the predecessor Redmi Note 2 has it).

Unlike with the Redmi Note 2, it is taking up one of the SIM slots on the Redmi Note 3 Pro, but at least you have that option.

> Thanks for the tip tho i'll have a look at those "unlock codes".
http://en.miui.com/thread-202290-1-1.html

Looking at the Redmi Note 3 forums, I think they found a way to root *without* unlocking now, but then you can't OTA update the usual way, or use TWRP to backup your device (guess you'd have to make do with MIUI's own backup software, or Titanium backup after rooting).

I still think it's a very annoying "feature" Xiaomi added. Few other Chines companies have locked bootloaders.

>>52869394
> Don't write them off yet that product just seems to be a bad egg.
So, you suggest that we perhaps list specific models instead?

I don't think one should compare earbuds and IEMs. IEMs are usually much better. VE MONK is an exception though.

You can't really go wrong with it. It's 5 bucks.

I see a lot of people here recommending Xiaomi Pistons. But there are tons of great chinese IEMs.

Almost any IEM from 'Easy Earphones (http://www.aliexpress.com/store/519064)' is a great choice. Personally, I recommend the SENFER UE or the Easy UE (2 and 3). .

Orico is the OEM for some Anker gear and others, yes, but I don't think the brand belongs to them.

Olight & Nitecore have some.

That said, the higher-end key chain flashlights (which tend to use 16340/CR123A) generally seem to cost a little more than the bigger ones.

I'm thinking of getting a few rechargable batteries and leaving the alkaline battery jew behind.

How much are the shipping prices on turnigy batteries? I am wondering because I saw starter set of eneloops at a local discount store for $20, and it came with 8 AA cells and a charger.

The guide also mentioned the Li-ion cells. What type would I get to use in AA powered thingys?
>>
>>52873191
Yes, was reported good like 1-2 threads ago & has the matching ratings on stores. It should definitely be quite good.

I can't however tell you how suitable it is as eBook reading device.

>>52873132
This kind of endurance usually requires a big drone, not a fun little quadcopter. Or an electrical glider plane, these fly a lot longer.

But you know you can swap batteries and also fairly quickly charge lithium packs, right?
>>
>>52872867

Was there any difference in sound between the KZ ATE and KZ ATE-S?
>>
>>52873406
> How much are the shipping prices on turnigy batteries?
Depends entirely on warehouse picked, where you live, and quantities shipped. I think you'll have to check.

If you can't get them cheap, then you still could just get Amazon Basics or Eneloops locally, from eBay or Japan, and only get the charger from China. Or make do with GP ReCyko / Ikea Ladda / other cheap LSD NiMh.

> The guide also mentioned the Li-ion cells. What type would I get to use in AA powered thingys?
They are almost all not intended as drop-in replacements for 1.2V cells.

There are just an increasing number of devices that use these newer, better lithium batteries. Which sometimes have step-up voltage converters to alternatively also work with AA. But they're new devices. The old ones won't do Lithium chemistry batteries in general.

I was slightly sarcastic, doesn't translate well over the internet. 15Ah worth of flat packs + safe electronics cost more, for all I know.

I bought two and I tried to reverse engineer one, but it was actually potted pretty well and I couldnt figure it out
>>
>>52873962
Seems to have a 2.6Ah battery (3.6V rating)?

The 20Ah battery pack of Xiaomi's will have ~90% efficiency at the 5V output, and maybe the HTC M8 can charge it's battery with like 80% efficiency (perhaps this is a bit high... not sure).

5.5 is the result of that, but well, maybe around 5 times. Perhaps 4.

PS, since that wasn't very helpful overall: Some things you can do to reduce the risk: Charge this in a fireproof location. Discard if it develops any bloating.

Measure whether it reduces and terminates the charging at some point + how much power you put in and how much comes out with a small USB meter. Measure temperature on the pack with any means you like (strip thermometer or IR thermometer are the obvious means).
