I haven't gotten to really play with enough otherwise similarly speced DDR4 boxes to know, but similarly speced DDR2 to DDR3 boxes were a huge improvement. You'd notice it outside of synthetic benchmarks. Some of the newest boxes we're getting at work have DDR4, but there hasn't been enough load to see a difference yet, and they're work, so I can't really play too much with them.
