You can get the full set of background images (in grayscale) from the CDE source files in xpm/xbm form and convert those to png. The folder is called "backdrops". The colors can be found in a folder called "palettes", and are converted to a usable form by deleting every other pair. If you want to apply the colors faithfully, you'll have to look in the source, but if you don't care, use gimp or read this page

It's actually fine. As you can see from my screenshot above, where I am Multitasking, it is extremely functional. It's even possible to look at anime pics at the same time if you carefully budget your screen space. However, I would not pay one thousand dollars for a computer with that resolution.

A number of things
Multiple monitors is the largest reason I keep a dedicated card around. I play a few video games on my windows partition occasionally. Higher resolution support, although integrated has come along way since I got this card with my old AMD APU.
It's also just kind of a "why not" thing. If I ever need it for something, it's there.
