Got a Blu Ray drive that plays DVDs well.
I understand I need codecs to play Blu Ray.
Does PotPlayer play Blu Ray with the codecs?

If you wanna play Commercial Blu-rays you can get something like PowerDVD, or the AACS library for VLC. I had a bad experience with the AACS library since with would not work with all movies. The thing that worked the best for me was the DVDFab Passkey. It decrypts all Blu-ray discs on the fly so you can use it on what ever player you want.

> * Remove part of DVD/Blu-ray protections
> * Work with other compatible software to access unprotected DVD/Blu-ray content
> * Freely watch any DVD with no region limit
This works?

You gotta get the full version, if you read below on the link you gave, it says it doesnt remove all of them. Just pirate it. Or pay the 50 bucks.

The AACS and BD+ libs only work for old BD discs. The newer ones carry new keys and BD+ code that current libraries can't handle, you'll need AnyDVD HD(pirate versions cannot connect to the decryption server used for new titles, get the genuine version) or PowerDVD(again, since new BDs carry new keys you will need to update periodically)

DVDFab Passkey works well with the trial.
What's the easiest way to open the main menu on the disc? Is there a standard name for this file?

I haven't got (or want) an HDMI television.

Just rip 'em since the bullshit DRM makes it too much of a hassle to directly play it off the disc.

Use your monitor.
If you want to play bluray with menus, get:
CyberLink.PowerDVD.Ultra.v15.0.2003.58.Multilingual.Incl.Keymaker-CORE
If you just want to rip the discs get:
DVDFab.v9.2.2.6.Multilingual.Cracked-BRD
or
SlySoft.AnyDVD.HD.v7.6.6.0.Multilingual.Cracked.MERRY.XMAS-BRD

A surefire way to get pretty much any Blu Ray to play on your PC is to get a license for a commercial Blu Ray Player Software, like PowerDVD or Macgo Blu Ray Player.
Blu Rays that have been decoded, typically those that are >1 year old, and are not protected by BD+ can sometimes be played back by VLC with the AACC library and the corresponding key database file. You'll need to download libaacs from: http://vlc-bluray.whoknowsmy.name/.
The key database on this website however is very old, I suggest you download the AACS updater from http://www.labdv.com/aacs, which downloads and installs libaacs, libbdplus and the most recent key database file.
Some Blu Rays still wont play, even with libaacs, libbdplus and the most ecent key database file so you'll have to try with you discs.
You can also rip Blu Ray movies directly to a video file using MakeMKV, which is paid software but you can use the trail for 30 days without watermarks or time limitations. You'll need a lot of hard disk space however to store the movies from a direct rip without re encode (about 30-50 gb per movie). You can also rip the movies and then re encode them with a lower bitrate to save space, from 40 gb to around 3-5 depending on the quality you want.
