today, I bought one of these bad boys
did I do good?
also, trackball general
>>52638447
If you think it's allright to discuss the thing you brought because it somehow relates to technology then why not buy a fucking dildo and make a dildo general? I'm sure dildos are technology as well, fucking consumer whore
>>52638447
It's not gay if you don't touch the ball
yes.
Trackballs are cool.
On a totally unrelated note, my wrists are fucked up and I can't use a normal mouse anymore.
I have this one and like it
Helps a lot with my developing carpal tunnel
I prefer trackballs for work, but when it comes to games I think the normal laser mice work better.
>>52638447
>2016
>using a trackball unironically
medical reasons notwithstanding, you can't be serious.
>>52639863
But I do have medical reasons senpai.
Also when you get used to a trackball, it's comfier than a mouse
>>52639885
i agree
>>52639837
>tfw no wired version of this under $300
>>52640014
ikr
Anyone who uses a trackball is a big flowery faggot. There. I said it.
>>52640014
Looks like you can get this model off eBay for $30, give or take. Solid worker. Been using one for years and got maybe 4 or 5 stashed away that I found at thrift stores. You just won't have those extra little buttons.
fuck yeah you did good
most comfortable mouse ever made imho
except scroll functionality sucks. somebody made a great 3rd party driver that fixes scrolling. it turns the tiny button on the left side into essentially a mouse wheel click.
>>52640626
http://marble-mouse-scroll-wheel.software.informer.com/
scooting around a traditional mouse around the table feels barbaric after using a trackball for years
>>52638447
Trackballs are awesome if you need precision (CAD, computer graphics) and if you care about your hands and forearms.
They are good enough for gaming, but it takes some time to get used to over normal mice. They are actually better for sharpshooting in twitch shooters.
The only drawback is that you need to clean the sensors, rolls and ball on a fairly frequent basis (dust and bodily gunk).
>>52640626
correction you can turn any button into scroll wheel click
sorry if my screenshot looks like shit, i have a brightness dimmer running
>>52640014
What about Elecom M-XT3URBK?
>>52640626
>most comfortable mouse ever made imho
nope.
Not even close. (pic related)
But yeah, it's good.
>>52640014
the older model is wired. see >>52640446
I liek trackballs
>>52641059
You got a lot of balls man
>>52641531
but only 2 of them blue
>>52640014
It works fine wireless, maybe not for games, haven't tried it
>>52639885
>comfy
yep, but you have to "learn" how to use it
they are very comfortable and I lick the ball sometimes
>>52640987
>>52641587
The last I looked on eBay none were affordable. Like the sellers thought they were made of gold
>>52641059
that´s beautiful
let´s hope someday we get a gaming trackball with 10 buttons
we can dream.....
>>52642163
low supply = high price.
Just look for how much this >>52640952 sells.
But if you just want a wired thumb ball, check out the latest Elecom model (M-XT3URBK) - just stay away from their first one (XT1URBK), it had serious tracking issues
>>52642381
this one >>52639814 has 8. (10 if you count tilting the wheel as buttons)
Also, Logitech Cordless trackman (pic related) had 8.
Although probably thumb balls are better for games, and I don't know any with more than 6 buttons
>>52640952
Best trackball ever. Trying to find one that does not cost a kidney. Impossible to do.
>>52643526
I bought one last year for ~$15 on taobao and it even works (I did not expect that honestly)
this shit work flawlessly in Linux
nice and easy
is it placebo?
>>52645512
>basically upside down good old ball mouse
>have any reason to not work
daily reminder
>>52638447
ok, man, but how are you going to scroll ? (not offending, i just don't get the point of trackballs)
>>52647569
Don't worry , he doesn't know how to use it.
>>52648169
the point of trackballs is ergonomics. some trackballs have scroll wheels, others have scroll rings (like the kensington expert) or allow you to scroll by twisting the ball (kensington slimblade)
Logitech Cordless Trackman Wheel
The receiver is huge by modern standards, but it's a good mouse.
Yes you did good
waiting for pic related in the mail
Is it good?
>>52648995
yes, it's good.
You might want to mod the scroll ring though (remove a magnet to make it less rough)
Are these comfy for browsing and stuff? Why?
>>52649535
>Are these comfy for browsing and stuff?
Depends. When you get used to it, it's extremely comfy. However, some people will not get used to it.
>Why?
Less hand movement
Less strain on the wrist
Can be used on any surfaces with no problem (perfect for browsing from the couch)
High precision
How is a trackball different from using a laptop trackpad?
I'm imagining that a trackball would feel a lot like using a round trackpad.
>>52638582
#livingontheedge
>all those trackballs without scroll wheels
are y'all serious?
how do you even internet
>>52649849
A little bit, yes.
But it's like a difference between a physical keyboard and onscreen keyboard - trackball is a physical object that you move and it has inertia. It's a lot easier to feel it properly.
I move my finger about 1cm to move the cursor across a 27" 1440p screen. on a trackpad that would mean no accuracy at all, on a trackball it's perfectly fine.
>>52649933
The only tradckball without scroll wheel in this thread is the one in OP - and you can set on of the tiny buttons on the sides to work as kind of scroll lock (press button and move ball to scroll in 2 dimensions)
>>52638447
Great mouse.
Still using it along with a G502.
