>Spending 10 grand just to play in my virtual worlds but with extra graphics is normal, I swear!

No no, people lose their shit over it to. It's just less pronounced because car culture is more in twined with normies.

>source my RallyX Impreza and 8.1 BBC Silverado, slammed
>>
>>52594692
Nobody should be spending 10 grand on car parts.
>>
>>52594752
It's because cars actually help you with life as a method of transportation, and because cars are vastly more expensive than most computers.
>>
Poor fags just don't get it, why not spend 10k on PC parts?
>>
>>52594781
Because it's 5k the next year.
>>
>caring about what other people think about your spending habits

Like why waste time and energy on that.
>>
>>52594692
Nobody will care about PC parts in about 10 or so years either.

Cars were exciting and romantic once, as computers are today. I don't know about USA, but having a car in cities such as Vienna or Rome is now more liability than convenience and people look at this from practical standpoint because cars are just not idealized anymore - they don't represent progress, but have become simple tools that you can live without because you can always rent them, pay someone to drive you, or you can buy them cheap.
Expensive sports cars are becoming similar to golden toilet bowls nowadays - kitsch objects for those that are too wealthy for common sense.

So, as everything moves to "le cloud" and you can buy cheap machines for doing basic everyday tasks, people will care less about computer parts and the power of individual PCs.
I mean you can basically assemble a supercomputer in 30 minutes from infrastructure rented from Amazon and pwn any gaymer in a machine power pissing contest.

>People don't like cars anymore.

You're stupid.

$10K gets you an amazing PC. $10K gets you a pretty boring vehicle or only minor upgrades to a great vehicle.
>>
>>52594905
USA loves cars. If you live outside NYC and aren't dirt poor you probably have a car. Even in NYC, which has the worst driving in the country 50% of families own a car.
>>
>spend 10 grand on audio equipement and get bullied by /g/
>>
>>52595000
The maymay says "Car Parts" not an entire car
I think 10 grand would get you some good rims and a spoiler or something.

Also dem trips
>>
>>52595113
If we really compare it to pc parts, we'd have to include things like a whole new engine, chassis, etc.
>>
>>52595000
$10K would get you a different ukrainian hooker every day for the rest of the year.
>>
>>52594949
I'm not saying that. It's just not a big deal anymore.
It's just that people are realizing that cars can't do much and that they can only be as cool as they are expensive (so the owner can show off), since every car does the same thing basically.
Nobody cares if your car can go 300km/h if you must respect 50km/h limit in the city. The other 250km/h is its wasted potential that was one of its major selling points back in the day when the speed of the car meant freedom or futurism or whatever.

>>52595004
I thought so. Most large European cities are parking and traffic hell, and public transport is simply cheaper and more effective mode of transport.

is everyone going to ignore the fact that no one spends 10k on computer parts

no one gets the alienware area 52 FBI weather balloon with 6 screens, turbo drift gaming car seat, and a thousand dollar Ikea desk made of 4 pieces of wood

You don't need to spend that much to enjoy VR. A setup including the headset will cost like 1.5K if you assemble the desktop yourself.

Noice.

Serious question, why wouldn't you extend the roll cage to cover the top of the engine?

It looks like with the angles there that the air filters and carburettors would be damaged if the car was the roll and surely this vehicle would have a higher chance of rolling, I don't think anyone is going to be driving it 'sedately'
>>
>>52595174
Don't take it literally, man. Convert it to "needlessly expensive" PC parts.
>>
>>52594966
and 2x the wait

>>52595226
this is not an offroad vehicle.

My guess is when you're rolling your engine is the last thing you should worry about

It's not like it'd need much more though, it's just bad choice of angles.

See attached image.

I own a $10k stills camera, have lots of people wondering how a camera can cost that much, and then I tell them there are ones 4-5x as expensive. Everything is relative.

In any case, computer tech has slowed down to the point where hardware gets updated once every two years and you're lucky if the speed improves by 30%, while just a decade ago speeds doubled every 6 months, so we're coming off the end of one hell of a drag race.

High end hardware doesn't have be ricer. Also ricer PC parts doesn't always mean they were selected as such, I'd gladly buy a riced-looking component if it outperformed anything similar.

Yeah, I sure need a 10k computer for anything past browsing....
>>

1k could get you a chassis to rebuild.
inb4 no building. they're car parts, you're assembling it. exactly like a pc works.
>>

>>

Because a $5,000 computer is equivalent to a $50,000 car. Actually more like $100,000 but I'm being generous.

>>52595567
So you're back-pedalling because you finally realized it's stupid to compare a 10k pc with a 10k car?

>>
My car is $2000, and my dual 5k monitors are $4000 alone.
>>
>>52595166
yes.
If you want some excitement in your life, get a cheap car.
I usually pay $1k for a car and I never know when it will break.
I won't even know if I can get to work on time.
There is nothing boring about driving in a car where the carburetor is slightly broken or the heating system is fixed manually.
So many fun times.
>>
>>52595000
>$10K gets you a pretty boring vehicle
That's bullshit. You can get some pretty nice older cars for that money.
