1080p shouldn't be discounted because the rift will only require 10% over all more pixels. 1080p gives a nice overview of the potential vr performance and whether if you'll have to lower the settings or not.

>>
>>52594011

Dunno what you mean, the fury x is outperforming the 980ti, just not the 980ti waterforce from gigabyte.

I would cite the fact that the fury x can be overclocked, but the reply is always "nuh-huh!"
>>
>>52594034
at least the chance of the Korean ones matching the quality of an LG are higher than Phillips matching... RCA?
>>
>>52594043
The expensive $650 Fury X is comparable to a $600 reference throttling 980 ti that is 400mhz slower than a cheaper $530 non-reference 980 ti, while having 2gb less vram and consuming 25% more power. In a industry where gameworks is on 99% of games.

I hate to use that word but if you buy AMD you're a cuck.

>>
>>52594108

In bongland the fury x is 100 bongs cheaper than the waterforce.
>>
>>52594147
A reference 980 ti can overclock to the waterforce levels without any issues. But while running under the stock fan profile the card throttles and performs like shit on benchmarks so it's not a true indicator of what its actual capabilities are.
>>
>>52594204

I guess you didn't fuck up.

I bought a Fury non-X for 400 britpounds instead so I can use it in my virtual machine, which NVidia doesn't allow for. Didn't want a Fury-X because I wanted silence at idle which the pump noise wouldn't allow for.

People keep saying that the Fury can't overclock, but it's happy at 1150MHz, so 15% OC. Holds 55-65 fps on the Witcher 3 at 1440p, which is silky smooth with freesync. That's enough performance for me at the moment.

Frankly, I don't know enough about the 980-ti to know if it would do much better or not, but like I said I wouldn't be able to use it.

Full disclosure: it did actually crash once with the 'crimson' drivers, so I've gone back to the 'catalyst' ones to be safe for now.
