Why do normies love this company so much?
>>
>>52586197
They produce consistently good shit.
>>
>>52586197
They make some pretty good stuff and they come out with some pretty innovative products from time to time. I prefer Motorola for cell phones because Samsung phones have way too much bloat installed from factory but their other products are bretty good.
>>
>>52586197
Because they buy what's "popular" irregardless of the brand name. Samsung just happens to be popular, in part due to their aggressive advertising.
>>
good TVs

>irregardless

This word triggers my autism. The "proper" word is "regardless".

>>The prefix ir- (i-r) is a negative prefix, so if you add the prefix ir to a word that's already negative like regardless, you're making a double-negative word that literally means “without without regard.”

http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/irregardless-versus-regardless

Also, the fact that flammable and inflammable have the exact same meaning bugs me as well.

>>
>>52586197
They make shit that they don't support or update, and spend a ton of money on advertisement.

Hell, Samsung used to stand for cheap decent products, but now that just make a huge variety of shit or overpriced products and advertise the shit out of it.

When's the last time Samsung actually supported a non-flagship phone for 2 years?

Shit companies like Samshit is why Android is so fragmented.

>Make a gazillion devices
>Don't update anything but the flagships
>>
>>52587718
Software support and updates are a premium feature, why would you expect something like that on a bargain bin phone? You're just mad because you're too poor to afford a flagship phone.
>>
>>52586197
Because waterproof phone = porn in the shower
>>
Because Samsung spend about 1 billion dollars a year on marketing to trick them into doing just that.
>>
>>52587718
>fragmented
You do realize that using that word in this context was invented by Apple, right?
>>
>>52586816
Holy fuck, flammable and inflammable would always fuck me over in tests.
>>
>>52586816

i'm confused about in vs flammable, flammable should mean it's capable of flame. if inflammable, incapable of flame.

explain pls.

as for irregardless, people just use that because regardless doesn't sound badass enough and really drives home the point.

i think what triggers my autism the most of when people say a 'mute' point and mean a moot point.

inb4 who is moot?
>>
>>52587863
No, it wasn't. People have said that for decades.
>>
>>52587763
My phone was $120 USD and came with Android 3.X, almost 3 years later and it's running Android 5.X OTA.

Not support a phone because it's not a flagship isn't an excuse.

Part of the problem is carriers or relationship with carriers.
My workmate has a Note 3 LTE and just a few days ago he got an update to Android 5.0.
More than a year since the last update of any kind, 4.4.2 but in some countries that device had been updated to 5.0 five months ago.

Was it Samsung that was holding back the updates to other countries or was it the carriers?

And it was still only 5.0, not 5.1.1!
>>
Good stuff for non normies too though senpai, well at least regarding their SSDs
>>
>>52586197
cheapness and the image of quality. All but their top end offerings aren't that good, but because the top end stuff is good and looks similar to their mid and low end stuff normalfags think they're getting the full package, so to speak.

Damn though, their high end shit is pretty good. Top of the SSD market. I don't regret getting the 850 PRO. Fucking 10 year warranty. You can't beat that kind of product confidence in an SSD.
>>
>>52586816
Agreed. That Anon should of stayed in school.
>>
>>52588038
>Getting carrier locked shit.
>>
>>52587934
"Inflammable" is the original word, but then in the 1920s, according to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary of English Usage, the National Fire Protection Association started encouraging people to use the word "flammable" instead because they were worried people could mistakenly think "inflammable" meant "not flammable."

source: just fucking google "flammable vs inflammable"
>>
>>52588168
>google

Not even once.
>>
>>52588038
>not buying the unlocked version
>>
>>52588080
>Fucking 10 year warranty.
I think even the old SCSI drives didn't even have that kind of warranty. It's pretty ridiculous.

And if, in 5-10 years it does fail, you're certainly going to get an upgrade because there's no way they'll still be making that same model or have them in stock.
>>
>>52588161
>>52588200
You're pretty much are every time you buy a phone and keep its stock firmware.

The Note Edge wasn't released in my country, I bought an imported model so I am not locked to a carrier, but have you seen how many models of Note Edge there are ? At least 12 different models and even within those models there are different firmware for different regions (that have minor changes like having a different default search url for the default browser) and if you are updating through the device update or through Kies you need the update for your specific model and the specific update for the current firmware you have.
So if your model is release in Singapore and Australia, but you have the Australian version and an update is released for the Singapore version but not the Australian you cannot update through Kies or device update to get the new update until it is released for the Australian version.
>>
>>52588267
Can't you still root it and get the most up-to-date versions of Android though?
>>
>>52588267
Eh, my phone only has 3 versions, TW, CT and WW, mainly because of the band compatibility issues.

It doesn't come in carrier locked versions and is only available unlocked.
>>
>>52588287
Then you're bypassing the whole issue.
This isn't about your ability to take control, it is about companies' responsibility to deliver timely updates.

>>52588313
What is your phone?
>>
>>52588168

huh.

was 'inflammable' a word before adding 'in' to a word made it the opposite?

ya know, like if a girl had an appetite for cock. an insatiable appetite for cock. the desire for cock could not be satiated, hence insatiable desire for cock.
>>
>>52588327
No clue, that's just the answer that google gave me. Languages are weird man.
>>
>>52588322
Thing is, Samsung doesn't just release stock Android like the Nexus phones do. They have to release the touchwiz version of whatever android latch they're releasing
>>
>>52588358
*patch, fuck me
>>
>>52588327
The problem largely stems from English being a bastard child of many languages. Language rules are inconsistent.

>>52588358
The question is why does it take months to push out a version update to the same device in different regions?
It's understandable that their version release will lag behind Android stock because of Touchwiz, but you would want the release schedule to remain consistent.
>>
>>52588322
Zenfone
>>
>>52588400
I dunno, maybe they have to overhaul some features in language/region specific ways every update or something. Or maybe it's the service providers themselves dropping the ball. Either way, the average phone user doesn't really give a shit what version of Android their phone is running (if they even know in the first place) so it isn't a top priority to push updates in a timely manner.
>>
>>52587718
Hell, they don't even support their flagships for a decent amount of time. For example, the note 3 released on 25 September 2013 but did not get android m which launched on October 2015 (slightly over 2 years from launch date)
>>
>>52588400
Samsung probably has to release a product that agrees with each countries technological standards
>>
ITT: reddit strikes again
>>
>>52588415
Honestly, I don't know what the fuck Asus does with their devices.

With Samsung it's pretty easy, you just go to
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
and search a device name to find out how many different models they have and then see the different regions and who is getting updates.
>>
>>52588400

good point.

i read a lot as a kid and my understanding ov english is excellent and my spelling 99.9%, however the actual 'rules' i don't give a fuck about because they're so much bullshit.

i don't even bother capitalizing on 4chan anymore.

instead of teaching kids how to break down sentences shit and what past/present/future particples are, just give kids a fucking dictionary and a thesaurus. that covers 99% of useful language issues like, oh i don't know, actually conveying an idea from one person to another.

as for samshit, they might as well be General Motors, General Electric, and General Electronic.
>>
>>52588440
Most likely something like this. What I am wondering is if they require carriers/regulators to push changes upstream into the new firmwares they want to release into the regions so if this is delayed you get devices that get updated in one region but not another.
>>
>>52588400
their software update scene is a clusterfuck. The same model in different regions will get certain updates and skip others, it is also "normal" to have inconsistent designs/styles, such as in the settings menu.
>>
>>52586665
This. They're retarded lemmings.

at least as far as the normal (tech-illiterate) person is concerned...
>>
>>52589530
I thought the sensor quality was quite high, their recent flagship phones are at the top of phone camera quality tests. It was more their post processing software that was subpar.

Combination of good product, after-sales support and build quality. My positively ancient Note 2 is still alive and kicking well while my Nexus 5 is already dying. My next phone is going to be the S6 Edge+ that's for sure.

You make it sound like this is a bad thing.

This is a good thing. Things to fail unexpectedly but you have warranty on it.
>>
>>52589959
still annoying, I mean only 21 days or something and I practically handled that thing with silk gloves.
>>
>>52590051
An annoyance which is why warranties exist.

Now if they said they weren't going to fix it under warranty then I would have your back.
>>
>>52586197
I like my s5 a lot. I've broken 2 ballistic glass screen protectors on it, 3 corners off of various cases and the frame of the phone has a dent in it. It still works like the day I got it. I also once accidentally threw an old Galaxy Prevail out of a moving car. It was still working when I quit using it. Try doing that shit with a Nexus or iPhuk. Also, I recently got a Samsung 850 evo ssd. 2521mbps seq read in rapid mode.

That was when Panasonic still made plasma TVs.

Now that they're LED-backlit LCD-only, they're still good, but slightly behind LG and Samsung.
>>

Because their products are reliable, at least I can say that much about their monitors and microwave ovens.
