Alright boys, real talk.

I need to save up quite a bit for the headphones I've decided on, but I need something to use with my computer until then.

I originally though I'd just use my Soundmagic E10 that I use with my phone, but I can't keep them in for very long.

So I've got a $25 Target gift card, I'm thinking about adding a 5er with it and picking up these Apple EarPods. What's the common opinion on them?
>>
The pistons are FFFFAAAAAAAAARRRRR better
>>
>>52572893
They are fucking disasters.
>>
There's pretty decent if their form fits your ear. IMO it's probably the best cheap non-dildo earbud out there. In-ear buds don't work for me (none are comfortable for more than 5m at a time) and the earpods are the best I've come across so far without getting spendy.
>>
>>52572921
From Xiaomi? I'm looking for something that isn't in-ear, that's the only problem with my E10 IEMs.
>>
>>52572949
*they're damn I can't spell tonight
>>
>>52572893
These pieces of shit are $30? Sound quality is $15. But that's not even the main issue. The architecture is absolute ass
>>
>>52572965
Yep, they are great
>>
>>52572949
Yeah, that's what I'm looking for. I can wear my E10 for maybe an hour before they're insanely uncomfortable. I think this is the most logical option, especially for me only really spending $5.
>>
>>52572921
And the KZ-ATE's are better than the pistons
>>
>>52572978
Yeah, in typical Apple fashion, they cost the same amount as a decent in-ear with probably half the sound quality. Unfortunately, in ears just don't work for me for long periods of time, do you have any other suggestions?
>>
>>52573006
Either just get cucked and take these
>watch for background noise
>your eardrums
>tangling
>don't clean with picks or safety pins

Or get some real cheap headphones for $15.
>>
>>52572893
They are good, only downside is they don't isolate worth a shit which isn't really a downside desu it just depends how you are going to use them.
>>
>>52573031
I'm pretty sure an on-ear headphone (which is what I'd end up with for $15) would be far less comfortable for long periods of time than these EarPods.
>>
Why is it that nobody but apple is making plain old buds that are reasonably priced and actually worth a shit? Despite popular opinion otherwise plugs don't work for everyone and many probably don't want the bulk that comes with full-on headphones.
>>
>>52573064
Dude how big is your fucking head

And if all else is inconsiderable then just go for the ear pods. It's only $30
>>
>>52573090
People are starting to copy these, but not well. The ones that come with Samsung phones these days have the same shape, as do some real shit ones from AmazonBasics.
>>
>>52573103
I wear a size 8 cap, pretty large. And it isn't inconsiderable, I'm just asking, how do these sound? How comfortable are they over long periods of time?
>>
>>52573126
Well you've no other option. These things can be a pain in the ass since they're hard and obviously can't be malleable. Hate for Apple aside, I must say it's not too bad. Pretty clear. Go ahead and get them

The earpods are pretty good and really worth the 30.

The old ones from apple did suck and wouldnt stay in the ear for long time. I use the new ones for podcasts and stay in the ears for hours, they re good.
>>
>>52572893
Get some low end sennheiser in ears or something.

Those are better than they used to be, but you still won't get much for 30$, and at the same time you can still do a little better.

Gotta try different tips man. Tips are everything for in ears for both comfort and sound. There are shitloads of different tips you can buy separately with varying material size and shape, even stiffness. You just have to find one that fits your ear very well for seal and comfort.... But I personally prefer a nice plush over ear set of headphones, comfy enough that you forget about wearing them if you don't have the cord come in to view for a few minutes
>>
>>52573422
>>52573455
They are actually good headphones, Tyll of innerfidelity approves of them and has the same sentiments.
>>
>>52572921
this

i had min for over a year. Good sound quality. The braided cord is fraying but they really stay in my ear. Only 25$ I am really pleased.

Whats weird is the packaging.... like has to be 5$ worth. Really nice makes it seem like you're buying a fantastic product.
>>
>>52572893
I usually like Apple hardware but when I tried the Earpods they were really shitty. I got them free and don't use them, definitely wouldn't recommend buying them.
>>
Get IEM that werk, maybe KZ-HDS1 or Pistons 3.

No, you probably don't have the most sensitive ear channels or some shit like that, many IEM / many tips will work even if your overpriced whatever brand IEM didn't work before.
>>
Carbon Tenores. Cheapest thing I would recommend.
>>
>>52573422

Have you actually ever tried them?

If you don't like it that is fine, its your choice.

>>52572893
The earpods are surprisingly good. Incredible bass and not muddy at all like Apple's last generation of headphones. Totally worth the $20 or $30 or whatever they are. My only complaint about them is that they wear out easily. I use them 4-5 hours a day and they'll be junk after like 4 months. The plastic warps and it stops fitting your ears right over time. Decent for when noise cancelling Bose aren't appropriate, but you'll end up buying 2-3 pairs a year if you want to use them long term

>>
>>52573517
The Soundmagic E10 are like $40, they repeatedly get awards for best IEM for under $50 and even under $100 from time to time.

I may give comply tips a shot, but I doubt it's going to help to be honest. I just wear headphones for a really long time when I'm programming, the pressure and depth gets to me after like an hour.
>>
They're pretty great, been using them since launch. My last pair lasted about two years, they didn't break I just got an upgrade so I used the new ones.

My usage of them, Quite a bit, I don't listen to music unless I'm playing osu, which is usually for 3-4 hours. Besides osu, and the 20 minute commute to work daily, I use them when watching anime and movies on phone, which takes up about 30% of my time.

Good investment, they don't hurt like most in ears after long periods, they look nice, and they have good quality.

Next pair of in ears you try go on Amazon or something and order new tips for them. The importance of finding tips that fit YOU can't be stressed enough. Without them no iem will sound right (bass suffers most from poor seal) and they won't be comfortable to even wear long enough for you to notice...

Alot of people like "comply" foam tips.. I like the three flange soft silicone that my wife's klipsch x10s had... Also might try that set, super small, not expensive anymore, sound pretty good. came with 3 different styles of silicon tips in different sizes. They make x11's now too
>>
>>52573626
>they repeatedly get awards for best IEM for under $50 and even under $100 from time to time.
Never more awards than the pistons 3.

Even the Apple earpods got awards and tons of positive reviews, so, uh, yea. Everything gets awards and Mr and Ms. Audiophil like almost everything...

The point here wouldn't entirely be awards anyways, though both of these are good from my own experience...

> I may give comply tips a shot, but I doubt it's going to help to be honest.
You could try, though trying the chinese IEM I mentioned (~$7/14) or a bunch of IEM tips to try from aliexpress (~$1-3 shipped mostly, they even have triple flanged and various foam / silicone ones) should be cheaper.

If they don't work I'm sure some family member or friends will like them.

'sides you can try just hanging the cable around your ears in case you are the type who often pulls cables.

They break as easily as a more expensive pair, I have had them outlast and be outlasted by different other pairs some more expensive some cheaper, things last as well as you take care of them.

> 3, "the design still doesn't fit everyone,"

No shit, its almost as if people come in different sizes and shapes, holy fuck

> 4. They let sound "spill."
Just like most all other headphones out there

> 5. And can we talk about the price?

EarPods are sold on the Apple Store website for $29, which is "10 to 15 percent higher" than the price for similar-quality earbuds from other brands

$29 isn't cheap, you can get JVC gummies for $4 at the dollar store, you can also get beats headphones for over $!00.

I wish best buy or some box store that is around everywhere would have displays for all the headphones they sell from the cheap $4.99 to the ones that cost $300 that way these threads wouldn't even exist because you could just try shit before you spend the money on them.

What I like and what you will be different things, don't jump on the guy for wanting to not spend a lot of money i am a poorfag myself and spending the $30 would put a strain on my budget I would have a problem spending it to if I had never heard them to.

Dude, you're bound to know someone who has a pair, just try them before you spend the money, if you like them buy them.

For you they might, they don't for me.

I actually go outside and work and do other things, I need earbuds not headphones they're to bulky. Sony no longer makes the ones I used to buy so the earpods are the next best most comfortable ones for me.

You can't say that the $4 JVCs and the earpods sound the same, you're just being dishonest with yourself and the board here.

I don't give a fuck if apple makes them or not, they sound good, they actually fit my ears well and its either that or IEMs that are shoving a piece of rubber in my ear.

As far as I can tell, Apple Earpods are literally the only in-ear headphones designed to allow ambient noise through.

For me, they're the perfect headphone to use while walking or exercising, because I can hear what's going on around me clearly through the music. This means that I can hear people talking to me, traffic hazards, and so on.

They're definitely not perfect fidelity-wise but they're decent for the price.

Buy Iphone at a major store.

But 1$ knockoff earbuds from chinese store.

Switch.

Take Iphone back to store next day for refund.

Profit.

I do this all the time, mostly with external harddrives with their innards swapped out for inferior hdds, and laptops, with their ssd's swapped out for cheap chink ones.

Works nicely with samsung phones too, after swapping the IMEI sticker and taking back a galaxy s5 box with a galaxy grand in its place. Just wait for the old bored lady at customer support desk to be available, and compliment her hair to distract her.

Always pay with cash, avoid repeating same store in the same month.

Thinking of buying these when I get paid, been using $10 Sony earbuds which are pretty good except they keep dying from being in my pocket 24/7. Not sure if its smart to invest more if they'll just have to be replaced. A mic would be nice to have though.

Any earbuds that are pretty much indestructible? I commute by bike about an hour a day and always listen to music, but my earbuds usually last no longer than a year. I've used shitty €10 ones, Apple earbuds, and Sennheiser, and they all stopped working at some point, despite the fact that I treat them as carefully as possible.
