what razor does /g/ use? I noticed that the really expensive ones are a fucking rip off cause the one I have which is pic related, does not shave good at all, I have to go over and over the same area and have to use the trimmer to cut the long tough hairs, so I guess I should buy a cheaper model, I used one once it shaved better than the expensive shaver.

If you want to be a hipster fuck get a safety razor and some blades.
>>

I actually followed the /g/ meme and the amount of money I'm saving on shaving with a safety razor is pretty insane. Also when you get used to them they shave as good (if not better) than any gilette piece of shit.

I prefer to epilate in conjuction with IPL, usually takes a week for the hairs to grow back if at all
>>

This with one note.

It takes longer to shave with a safety razor. Not like terribly long or anything but i'd say using a safety razor takes twice as much time as using a disposable-plastic-thing.

IPL is an alternative to laser hair removal, it blasts varying wavelengths of light at your skin and literally burns the hairs out of their follicles permanently damaging them

this is the gun I use, it was pretty cheap and works quite well but useless unless you have dark hair and light skin

epilating just pulls the hair out so it takes forever to grow back
>>

thought that was a hair dryer at first, also why don't they have electric laser razors now?

Dat Rimei >>52557885 is the cheapest option but you could also go with an Edwin Jagger or Muhle R89 or whatever other classic.

Or some newer one. Actually, honestly, they're not that tricky overall.

Just get some sharp blades like Feathers or the extremely common Astra Superior Platinum that I use too, and it'll be okay. That's the only thing I'd say you probably should explicitly do.

> What about a set of brushes and cream?
I have soap in a bowl that I foam with some shaving brush not made with animal hair but ... whatever plant they used.

I've used shaving foam from a gel bottle, makeup brushes and random shit before. Even used soap-between-hands technology. You know, making soap bubbly isn't very high tech either.

No doubts you'll also like one good option that you tried and settled on better in the end... but it's almost impossible to go wrong.

Thanks mate, that's the exact kind of info I was after. Makes sense that getting good blades is what it's all about, I'll try some Feathers since people always seem to recommend them, and see about the Jagger or Muhle, but might even settle for something cheaper.

I did Gillette in the past. Now, if you buy original Gillette Proglide Fusion or whatever cartridges in like around here, it's a pretty big money difference. Those things cost a lot around here. Like 25 bucks for four or some dumb shit like that.

This originally caused me to try DE. Astra Superior Platinum are ~$15 for 100.

Since then, I noticed I could have parallel imported the Gillette cartridges from Russia and saved over half that money, but there also was the issue that these cartridges clogged too often with my hairs together with gel and were near impossible to clean without putting them out of alignment sometimes. Pain in the arse.

I could have reverted to Mach3 with even cheaper Chinese or Russian cartridges that didn't clog, but the shave was better on the DE razors anyways.

So I didn't bother. DE works a little better than Mach3 and much better than the new Fusion Proglide whatever for me and it's the cheapest option, done.

>I have to go over and over the same area
This is what made me abandon rotary shavers and stick to foil shavers. The best one I've found is the Panasonic Arc shavers. You can get an Arc 3 for $50-60. Shave in the shower. Shave in the car. Save at the computer. Shave pretty much anywhere.
>>
Electric razors are always shit, I've been through so many in the past, cheap or expensive nothing is anywhere near as good or efficient as using a proper blade.
>>
>>52558165
I have ridiculously good sharpening equipment for my kitchen knifes already. And I can't be arsed to work with straight edge razors anyways.

Factory stamped and sharpened tiny flat DE razor blades are just so damn cheap and easy and well, sharp without even a little effort.
>>
>fall for the meme shavers and try straight edge and safety razors
>get ingrown hairs like fuck
Smooth shaves are all well and good but my skin hates them.

>>52558259
>try this
>no matter how I wash it I get pimples and blackheads under my beard which are uncomfy as fuck

So far the best thing I found is an electric razor since it doesn't cut close enough to give me ingrown hairs.
>>
>>52558246
We also have some sellers trying to sell them for about that much. It's pretty ridiculous that people appear to pay this much around here.

> I get a box of 10 DE blades for $7 and each one lasts longer.
$15-20 for 100 Astra Superior Platinum is pretty much a near global price, just in case you want to bring down that cost further.

Some places also have them for close to $10.

Same blades, but with the meme "#1 best seller/4500 positive review' Merkur 180.

I'm a cheapskate who likes nice, expensive things, so it's rare that I find a purchase that completely satisfies me. This one does.
I don't necessarily shave every day, and when I let it build up, my beard will destroy a cartridge in a single shave, even after trimming. A disposable is hopeless. It only takes a single edge to cut through it with the Merkur. Two edges, two perfect, new-blade shaves with zero razor burn for 13 cents.
Don't even need any fancy brushes or soaps. I use Gillette Fusion Hydra Gel.

Technology ("science of craft", from Greek τέχνη, techne, "art, skill, cunning of hand"; and -λογία, -logia) is the collection of techniques, skills, methods and processes used in the production of goods or services or in the accomplishment of objectives, such as scientific investigation.

This is the discussion of which tools will best accomplish the task of removing coarse hair from delicate skin. Shaving is the very definition of the use of technology.

You're probably one of those morons who think "technology" is a synonym for "electrically powered."

You really do not need to change the blade every shave. that'd be annoying. With even cheap ones like astra you can get at least 4 without any issue.
