It should be "I assemble computers.". Just like how "I assemble LEGO blocks."
Because saying you build computers implies that you have higher education.
The reality though is that people who ASSEMBLE computer components have no less brain than kids who assemble LEGO blocks.

Also LinusTechTips and such faggots are MARKETING GROUPS, not TECH groups.
As such, posting any YouTube faggot without a STEM degree or any technical higher education, constitutes a violation of rules.

>inb4 you carry on this charade to not lose face, in the vein of "I was only pretending to be retarded!"
>>
>>52525213
It's not their fault that idiots don't realize that building a computer is essentially like building legoes.

I mean, it's not like people who build cars and houses usually manufacture the building materials or the car parts themselves.
>>
>>52525220
>>A builder of houses isn't a builder because he doesn't manufacture the materials.

People who build houses manufacture the cement they use and do have to manufacture a lot of the materials themselves.
Ergo they qualify as "builders".
The fuck do you manufacture in order to "build" a computer? Nothing.
So you are not a builder. You are an assembler.

>>52525578
They manufacture cement on the spot before assembling for bridges, they also have to smelt custom metal beam parts.

The same goes with houses.

The same goes with electrical plant.

The same goes with cars (anyone customizing cars has to manufacture their own components to patch shit up with smelting, or build their own exterior panels.

Your own argument goes against you.
>>
>>52525787
>anyone customizing cars has to manufacture their own components to patch shit up with smelting, or build their own exterior panels.

Those are builders. They actually have to modify, grind, create custom parts in order to fit in, and use base material to construct components on the spot that will become part of a build.
When such shit happens, that's building a PC.
>>
>>52525601
Not really.
I mean, just because idiots associate "building a computer" with something more challenging than building a model kit doesn't mean the wording is incorrect.

People who build engines don't actually make the parts themselves either.

You'd be surprised. Especially when shit happens.
But i think there is a good reason "assemble" and "build" exist as two separate words. They MAY be labeled as synonyms, but not necessarily, as there are some tiny logical differences.

No, they assemble the cement by adding water to a pre-manufactured mix.
>they also have to smelt custom metal beam parts
This is done by someone else who then ships the beams to the site where they are assembled into what becomes the bridge or whatever.
>>
>>52526312
Maybe they do it where you work, but i observed 2 bridge constructions in my city, and in both they ordered individual batches from a nearby sandpit and made their own mix, and they had to repair fuckups and flawed metal components (like chains) by smelting and molding on the spot.

The difference between building and assembling probably implies the number of parts or steps required to finish the product.

A computer has at best 10-20 unique components or steps when a lego structure has hundreds to thousands.

So, you build with legos and assemble computers. You assemble furniture and build it from scratch.

Whatever, I don't particularly care.

build

verb
1.construct (something, typically something large) by putting parts or material together over a period of time.
synonyms: construct, erect, put up, assemble
-commission, finance, and oversee the building of (something).
"the city council plans to build a bridge"
-incorporate (something) and make it a permanent part of a structure, system, or situation.
"engineers want to build in extra traction"
synonyms: incorporate in/into, include in, absorb into, subsume into, assimilate into
"emergency procedures must be built into every plan"

"Build" is a synonym for "assemble" about as much as "PC" is a synonym for "Laptop".
Sure a Laptop is a personal computer, but it's inferior to a Desktop in all areas besides portability.

Sure assembling is part of the building process, but building requires more practical skills and has more steps than just stuffing together components, as building also includes customizing and modifying components themselves.

Oh, and PC assembling isn't /g/. It's >>>/toy/

You can send a custom PC build to the assembly service and they will build it for you regardless, provided that the parts you're buying are coming from them (NCIX for example).

Prebuilts are inefficient in all aspects and buying one would be a mistake.
